I am having some problems with my Ricoh MP C4501 this is the situation; When people are printing it prints and extra page with this on it "PCL XL Error Warning: IllegalMediaSource" I've been around on different forums looking for soloutions and I have yet to find anything that is helpfull. We got 2 of these printers, and I have checked serveral times that the setting is EXACTLY the same, but only one of em gives the error. I've also tried chaning to PCL5 as a lot of people suggest since I am using PCL6 at the moment, however chaning the driver results in a lot of other problems with it not printing from correct tray. I've also tried not using the PCL driver, same result, I have tried almost ANYTHING i could think of, so if anyone has some things to try out, feel free to post. Things I've tried: Changing driver to PCL5 Checked Accessories setting is the same. Uninstalled printer and tried multiple drivers EDIT: I'

It is likely that Windows XP does not support the drivers perfectly and thus causes errors (Illegal Media Source means that it tries to fetch paper from a tray that doesn't exist). PCL5e has been around for longer and doesn't have such issues. Bottom line: use PCL5e over PCL6 if you encounter problems. share|improve this answer answered Aug 13 '13 at 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote It could well be drivers, however most posts I've seen suggested you shut-down your printer and cold start it up (remove AC power) This worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '15 at 9:33 user269836 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages pcl xl error (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed!
