no such issue. What causes this and how to fix it? windows-xp drivers printing share|improve this question asked Aug 13 '13 at 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Related question: PCL XL Error The problem lies in the usage of PCL6 drivers. It is likely that Windows XP does not support the drivers perfectly and thus causes errors (Illegal Media Source means that it tries to fetch paper from a tray that doesn't exist). PCL5e has been around for longer and doesn't have such issues. Bottom line: use PCL5e over PCL6 if you encounter problems. share|improve this answer answered Aug 13 '13 at 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote It could well be drivers, however most posts I've seen suggested you shut-down your printer and cold start it up (remove AC power) This worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '15 at 9:33 user269836 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email

A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out pcl xl error of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed!
