Plex on PS3 DLNA Protocol Error 501 katz.s Posts: 4Members August 2012 in DLNA I had high hopes for this software when I found out about it. The server is exactly what I was looking for! Unfortunately, I'm running the client from a PS3 and of course I get the 501 error when trying to use the video portion. Music works OK. My frustration is that there is already a thread about this issue, but the problem never seems to be addressed, at least what I've been able to find. I've already tried deleting the bundle directories and the same error appears. Any help or new advice about getting this error resolved would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm at the latest version available. Thanks in advance. 0 «12» Go Comments Trudge Gone off to greener pastures.... HI, If you do a google search for DLNA 501 PS3 you'll see that error 501 seems to be Sony's "catch all" error for DLNA so its not caused by 1 thing, but any number of things that Sony are yet to define specific error codes for. This is also why is keeps coming up and never appears to be fixed, as there is no 1 fix for it and what does fix it for some, doesn't for others. It also happens on an

Published on Sep 19, 2012My DLNA devices have been having major issues with Plex lately, but here is a workaround!I have 3 WDTV Live (2 new gen, one 1st gen) and a PS3 that can see my Plex Media Server (Ubuntu server 12.04) and it's sections. Normally they can play the media just fine but lately they display https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXUEkH1DSZw 'No Media Found' when I try to view a section. The PS3 additionally gives the common 'Error 501' DLNA error. The Plex server is always responsive via the web UI and native Plex clients (PC / Android) works just fine. While I can ssh into the Plex server and do a start/stop, which will fix the DLNA issue temporarily, this is a real pain. While tinkering with my 1st gen WDTV I discovered the following workaround:If I navigate to the 'Remote Video' section I can drill down into my sections and play media.Once I browse a section this way, I can once again browse that section from the main section list in Plex. This works the same way on each client. Category Gaming License Standard YouTube License Show more Show less Loading... I stream video to my PS3, Samsung Blue ray player and Samsung TV. I've never had an issue with watching anything I've added to my library. I've had to add a switch to my setup because I've finally ran out of hard wire ports for my devices. Since I've added the switch (Cisco SD2008) suddenly I ps3 media server cannot stream anything through DLNA. My PS3 gives an error message of "Media Server Error: A DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred" and when I go into my AllShare program on my Samsung no videos are found. But the weird thing is is that Plex Media Server runs just fine. Plex doesn't play a lot of my videos and it's not the most friendly or fast program to use so I'm really stuck in a hard place here. I'm really hoping someone can give me advice to fix this problem. I would greatly appreciate any help resolving this issue. Get all Cat 6 cables so running at Gigabit. ensure NAS and Switch have Static IPs. This seemed to make everything happy once again and worked.Incidently, I agree with your view on Plex, I wondered what else are you using to stream movies to tv / bluray? As yet my PS4 does not support DLNA so a bit stuck.TV doesnt always like movies on Plex but it does see the diskstation in source settings and will play pretty much ev
Comment Filed Under: Gaming Tagged: ps3 A friend of mine purchased a PlayStation 3 and connected it to his wireless Linksys router. Whenever he downloaded updates to games, it would start the download then freeze at about 32 percent. At other times it would throw an error saying DNLA Protocol Error 2101. We could access the PlayStation Store without a problem though. After connecting the PS3 directly to the cable modem, the PS3 worked fine. So we then knew the problem had to be with the Linksys router configuration. After checking out the router settings, we figured out that UPnP was enabled. The UPnP feature is supposed to automatically grant permission to devices to access needed network resources. It doesn't always play well with certain devices though. So we disabled UPnP with these steps: Login to the Linksys router's admin panel. You can usually get there by opening a web browser and going to "http://192.168.1.1" (usually this is the IP address used, but it may be different depending on your configuration) in a web browser. Go to "Connectivity" in the left pane. Click the "Administration" tab. Uncheck "UPnP" to disable it. Select "OK", and you're done. If you have a router from a different brand, check the user guide for information on how to disable this feature.
