only takes a few minutes. Join Now I received an unrecoverable media error part way through my weekly full backup and the job failed. E3719 Unable to write

to media. (MEDIA=W-TCA-FRI- 1/04/13 [S/N: 1100047], EC=UNRECOVERABLE DATA ERROR) It was a new e3712 unable to close session tape. Should I just assume the tape is bad? E3719 Unable To Write To Media
UTC Yes, this means the tape has developed BAD SECTORS... and its faulty... get a replacement 0 Datil OP Helpful Post Thomas0311 Jan 8, 2013 at 2:13 UTC If that is the only error you received, then yes I would agree with Varun and say you have a bad tape. However, if you received any other errors with it such as: E6096 Media Error [ABSL:... Then I would test the "bad tape" in a different drive to confirm that you don't possibly have a hardware failure in the drive. 0 Tabasco OP MJB969 Jan 8, 2013 at 3:37 UTC Thomas, I did get the E6096 error before the E3719. The drive reported an error 6 which is either tape or drive failure, but it doesn't know which. Then it wanted to be cleaned. My backup last night worked fine, so I'm leaning towards a bad tape. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year. You may get a better answer to your question by starting a new discussion.
