You will have to manually go to Save as -> Excel 97-2003 Workbook and save it. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '15 at 21:17 Kripa Jayakumar 593513 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. I made some changes to data and ended up a 2007 format excel sheet. when i used this xlsx sheet instead of xls sheet, am getting this: jxl.read.biff.BiffException: Unable to recognize OLE stream at jxl.read.biff.CompoundFile.
to recognize OLE stream Cause: In the plugin jxl api's(Java Excel API) is used to read the Excel file. The JXL Api's does unable to not support the Excel 2007+(.xlsx) it only supports the old BIFF (binary) ".xls" format and that is the reason it is throwing the error Solution: Parse only the unable to recognize .xls file using this custom plugin. Or try using the Apache POI Project to support both the formats.
