quit Rstudio and R via the Mac activity monitor, though, I am able to copy text from the error unable to establish lan session R studio window, so I have not lost any code yet. I have been getting these types of errors for a while and they don't seem to corrolate with error unable to establish lan session ipmi any particular operation, other than perhaps just having a large number of items in my workspace environment. At the time it happened last, I checked the Mac activity monitor and found R was using ~ 1gb of ram (not surprising given the data sets I was working with). I think I may be having the same problem as Balaji

The error is also similar to this one: https://support.rstudio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200550547-Regular-nonfatal-Error-Unable-to-establish-connection-with-R-session-?locale=en-us But unlike that posting by Peter Fine, my Rstudio session doesn't seem to go back to normal and eventually I have to force-quit R and/or Rstudio. There is a problem with RStudio and pulling large data sets. See here: Wang's Tech Blog and here: RStudio Support. I suggest just using R in the terminal when you run scripts that pull large data-sets. share|improve this answer answered Jun 22 at 4:29 ThomasK81 112 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
