Error Unable To Gpt Format The Disk
Contents |

I've tried to use dd and gpart (as per the FAQ) unable to gpt format the disk ada2 but I can't get it to work. I'm confused as to why dd isn't unable to gpt format the disk ada0 working. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. The only thing about this drive is that it's on a separate controller but that freenas unable to gpt format shouldn't matter, especially considering it shows up. Error: Failed To Wipe Ada0: Dd: /dev/ada0: Operation Not Permitted
Received: 8 Trophy Points: 41 Location: Leaving FreeNAS I've noticed this happening to a few people here in the forums. What does dmesg show for ada0? What version of FreeNAS are you using etc.? What kind of disk / controller are you using? Bug #141 Problem Setting Up Used Hard Drive With a New Volume https://project.altservice.com/issues/141 in FreeNAS Added by Daniel Curtis over 3 years ago. Updated over 1 year ago. Status:ClosedPriority:NormalAssignee:Daniel CurtisCategory:Network Attached StorageTarget version:FreeNAS 9.xStart date:07/09/2013Due date:% Done:100%Estimated time:5.50 h Description During the initial deployment of the DMZ NAS I came across an error during the creation of a unable to new volume. The error stated: Error: Unable to GPT format the disk "ada0" The previous operating system used was Ubuntu on an ext4 filesystem, which used the MRB partitioning mechanism. A few forum suggested zeroing the disk and starting over that way, and I unable to gpt did just that. I opened a shell from the web interface and zeroed the disk: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/ada0 The process took about 5 hours to complete, however when it finished the Volume Manager created the new volume without any problems History #1 Updated by Daniel Curtis about 3 years ago I have noticed that while in the web shell on FreeNAS, during the zeroing process, you can press Ctrl+t and get some raw statistics. This is not of any particular relevance, other than seeing the immediate progress of the zeroing process. #2 Updated by Daniel Curtis over 1 year ago Project changed from 38 to FreeBSD Administration Category set to Network Attached Storage Target version set to FreeNAS 9.x Also available in: Atom PDF Loading...
