I gooled it and some older releases said it was a http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16198 bug but nothing for 5.5 Top unix1adm Posts: 136 Joined: 2010/02/23 13:27:06 Re: httpd will not start Quote Postby unix1adm » 2010/09/01 14:18:16 I should mention I am trying to make a private key for my own www test site. found these commands in a few searches openssl rsa -noout -modulus -in localhost.key | openssl md590b92a7d4f71bd988e009f065abf1c24openssl x509 -noout -modulus -in localhost.crt | openssl md590b92a7d4f71bd988e009f065abf1c24looks the same to me. I think I figured it out...the directions say to edit the /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf file and add SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/pki/tls/private/ca.keySSLCertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/csers/ca.crtI changed them to be localhost.key and localhost.crt. It now works. Well it started Ill have to try the www page later when I can get on my home network. Can I change the file to be servername.crt or servername.key. I'll try that and see if it works.answer: yes i can. I renamed the files to the servername and changed the path and it still works. Life is good. Done. Restart apache - "FAILED". Error message: [Tue Jan 11 12:51:37 2011] [error] Unable to configure RSA server private key [Tue Jan 11 12:51:37 2011] [error] SSL Library Error: 185073780 error:0B080074: x509 certificate routines:X509_check_private_key:key values mismatch rsa server private I've checked the key values: openssl rsa -noout -modulus -in server.key | openssl md5 openssl x509 -noout -modulus -in server.crt | openssl md5 and they DO match. I've checked the paths in my ssl.conf file, and they ARE pointing to the correct files. If I reinstate the old (expired) cert file, apache starts up ok, so it definitely doesn't like something about the new one. It's a GeoTrust QuickSSL, and it came with an "intermediate.crt" that I'm supposed to use in place of the the "ca-bundle.crt" file that I was using before SSLCertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/www.domain.com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/pki/tls/private/www.domain.com.key SSLCACertificateFile /etc/pki/tls/certs/intermediate.crt Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Any more info you need? Thanks! apache ssl https openssl share|improve this question asked Jan 11 '11 at 14:10 Codemonkey 189129 add a comment| 9 Answers 9 active oldest votes up vote 58 down vote I also came across the same error. In my case I had to supply additional CA certificates in the verification chain. And instead of supplying the certificate and the key in separate files, I combined them in a .pem file. However, when you do this, the order of the key and the certific
the webserver, I get the following message: [Wed Jul 07 05:13:53 2010] [error] Unable to configure RSA server private key [Wed Jul 07 05:13:53 2010] [error] SSL Library Error: 185073780 error:0B080074:x509 certificate routines:X509_c heck_private_key:key values mismatch The strange thing is that the certificate\private key values do match: openssl rsa -noout -modulus -in private.key | openssl md5 2c3cc1d7364a67aefc856297fe4222a9 openssl x509 -noout -modulus -in server.crt | openssl md5 2c3cc1d7364a67aefc856297fe4222a9 This same error is shown either if I import the files given by my SSL provider or even if I generate the certificate\key directly on the server (therefore I'm assuming that the problem isn't on the certificate). I'll take this chance to clear up another doubt that has arise during this process. For a couple of hours (before this error) I've struggled to restart the server, another error: unable to load Private Key 3078:error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line:pem_lib.c:644:Expecting: ANY PRIVATE KEY I solved this issue by copying the private key content into the certificate file. Is this a correct practice or should the issue be resolved in a different manner? Thank you for the help.
