It might be failing there. Also, if you could, open a terminal and switch to root with the su command. Then do a yum update and see if it works. __________________ Semi-Recent screenshot: here Fluxbox user certified with a Linux Genuine Advantage provided by the GNU GPL markjensen View Public Profile Visit markjensen's homepage! After this, I'm able to get out through the http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=117705 internetusing my browser. Not sure why I fail to get software updates though. I used the same setting in Proxy - Control Center. Repository Manager show's CentOS-5 - Addons mirror list as :http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=5 ... epo=addons..and I can get to the site with the browser. Any tips greatly appreciated. com> Subject: Re: FC5: Unable to retrieve software information Date: Wed, 19 Apr 2006 15:36:01 +1200 I had https://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-list/2006-April/msg04475.html wondered if that was the case but assumed not because I was trying to install an RPM locally (i.e. one I had downloaded) - I'm also assuming that the Add/Remove Software is looking locally. HTTP works with no problem so I guess it does beg the question of what protocal rpm uses. I'll keep checking unable to on the networking front as I'm not entirely sure I've got that set up correctly. Thanks for the response. C > Crile Doscher wrote: > > Hi all, > > I've just installed FC5 on a virtual machine (alas, I'm somewhat wedded to > > MS).
