Every time I try to open steam I get this error message: Steam.exe(main exception): ERROR: copying SteamNew.exe to Steam.exe failed, Win32 Error 32 "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." I followed steams instructions for that error code, restarted my pc, repaired steam, tried to manually update steam. But anyway I try to open it, it fails. I disabled my antivirus, and have closed all processes except ones required by system like explorer.exe and the other basic ones. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advanced. Here is an image of the error http://www.use.com/8433fc1c3a08d9e93254 Last edited by Trisreaper; 3 Dec, 2012 @ 1:27pm < > Showing 1-15 of 54 comments Trisreaper View Profile View Posts 3 Dec, 2012 @ 1:

The problem was that VS cannot copy over an executable that is still running. I'll try to fix it with properly cleaning up resources so the program does not leave hanging after window close button. –lahjaton_j Jan 8 at 8:24 add a comment| 45 Answers 45 active oldest votes 1 2 next up vote 179 down vote accepted I encountered the error message(s) in VS 2013. Mostly it occured when the debug proces was stopped somewhere

I am trying to do a clean install of Windows XP with slipstreamed Service Pack 3. I keep getting this error message: An error occurred copying file conime.exe to C:\WINNT\conime.exe. The file is missing. Contact your system administrator. You may retry the copy. skip this file, unable to or exit Setup. *If you select Retry, Setup will try to copy the file again. *If you select Skip File, the file will not be copied. This option is intended for advanced users who are familiar with the various Windows XP systems. *If you select Exit Setup, you will need to run Setup again later to install Windows XP. I made the installation disk using nLite about a year ago from unable to copy my licensed Windows XP installation disk. I checked and the file is in the i386\system32 folder on the installation disk. I have previously used the same disk to install Windows XP on my system about 5 times, with no problems. (Don't ask) I have NOT made any hardware changes. I have wiped the harddrive before the attemped install. I even tried rebuilding the installation using nLite, but have the same problem. I have also tried the install uning the original Microsoft disk. I hope someone can help me. All I can find when searching Google, are apps to scan and repair for $$. Perhaps you need to rebuild the slipstream (to include the F6 option to install other drivers). Can I direct you here; http://www.howtogeek.com/forum.....?replies=3 Mike Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top gizzmoid8963y Posts: 4 This post has been reported. Mike, Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention that all of the needed drivers and a boat load of MS updates (dotnet, java, MSI, + a gazillion more) are included in my nL

Hey, i just solved this with a pretty simple solution, which should work on all machines. The Problem in all cases is the Windows File Locking or that the Steam Service/Installer does not release the files. More detailed explanation The method is simple: You update steam yourself, not via patcher. You need a nonworking Steam already installed for the registry keys and the Service! Then you patch it on your own. There are three ways obtaining the required files: 1. You can download it here (link below) 2. You can ask a friend to send their steam install to you (don't copy steamapps folder!) 3. You can create a clean patched Steam Installation with a VirtualMachine (thats how i solved my problem and thats where the linked steam download comes from) When you have obtained the patched Steam Directory you simply copy it over your nonworking steam directory. Make sure you have the ownership of the directory (Tool to take Ownership) Make sure you have the rights for the Steamfolder and it is not Read-Only. If a program is using the directory you can find it with one of these tools: http://processhacker.sourceforge.net/ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx Here is the current update only (2012/08/16): https://rapidshare.com/files/1253987..._2012-08-16.7z http://netload.in/dateiEwvNDUPY1F/st...2-08-16.7z.htm (mirror) Virus Total report for the file: https://www.virustotal.com/file/9ffa...is/1345096460/ Download the archi
