In another local repository for another website, I have the files with my local machine username as owner, and when I push to the remote server it respects the remote server owner of the files and works like a charm. Was so annoyed with thinking permissions were correct on the the file. Installed with curl as per installation instructions. Installed git then ran 'brew update' and unable to got the 'unable to unlink old...' message. Tried to do clean install (i.e. 'sudo mv /usr/local /usr/local_bad' Re-ran the curl script. It created the /usr/local directories etc... That seems to work fine. Did a 'brew install git' and that worked fine. 'git --version' came back 1.7.6. Did a brew update and it gave this output: Initialized empty Git repository in /usr/local/.git/ remote: Counting objects: unable to unlink 40936, done. remote: Compressing objects: 100% (18318/18318), done. remote: Total 40936 (delta 24865), reused 36249 (delta 22026) Receiving objects: 100% (40936/40936), 5.61 MiB | 686 KiB/s, done.
