“Collate” or “Mopy” (sometimes more than one of these), must be enabled. If they are turned off, the computer will send the job 10 times if it needs 10 copies. This brings us to a common problem. If the settings just mentioned are turned on, but the printer does not have a hard disk drive, you will get an error message (usually in the form of an error page that prints after the first copy) printer not configured to collate 4600 saying the printer is not configured to collate and couldn't store the job. It also requests the installation of a hard disk. People get alarmed by this and think there is something wrong with the printer, but in most cases, the printer is fine – it’s just being told to do something it cannot do. If you need to collate (or to store the job on the printer for some other reason), you will need to add a hard disk. But in most cases that we have encountered, people do not want to collate, and may not even be printing multiple copies. Often, the job is small enough that the printer wouldn’t need to store it anyway – but just having those settings turned on in the computer is apparently enough to cause the error condition. So the solution is to go into the driver and turn off those settings. The details will vary between different printer models and operating systems. Basically, you need to get into the printer driver (in Windows XP, for example, you would click on Start, then Printers and Faxes, and then right-click on the printer icon to access the printer properties). Then go to Device Settings or Configure or Advanced Printing Features, and turn off anything that refers to job storage, collation, or mopying (“Mopy Enabled” or “Mopie

We have an HP4200 that a customer is printing multiple copies to, and after 1 page of the document prints, she then gets an error sheet stating: Error: Unable to store job at printer Reason: Insufficient disk space unable to store for this job Solution: Delete some files from the disk before resending this job The obvious fix to me would be to add memory, and I will need to order some if this is the case. Any fix ideas before I proceed. This is not a local printer. Thanks. The HP universal driver assumes you have a hard drive installed. They do this because plotters usually do have hard drives, without the hard drive the plotter cannot work. You have to go into your printer's properties and tell it that there is no hard drive installed. We have also seen this come back but have not been able to figure out why that printer's properties now think there is a hard drive. If the universal driver sees a hard drive in the properties it wants to load a big job onto the hard drive. When the non existant hard drive does not respond the driver complains. Al Reply W

Solved Error: Unable to store job at printer on HP Color Laserjet 5500 Posted on 2009-02-10 Printers and Scanners Peripherals 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 13,852 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-15 Intermittently our HP Color LaserJet 5500 printer prints out a job storage status page that reads: Error: Unable to store job at printer Reason: Printer not configured to collate Solution: Install an EIO hard disk. I've researched this error on HP's site and I performed the suggested: I downloaded/installed the latest drivers. I doubled checked the settings on the printer for Job Storage and Mopier mode, both are disabled. The printer hard disk is also 'not installed'. We have the printer maxed out as far as memory is concerned and people are not printing huge files. I can't figure out what else to try. We really don't have to have to purchase a $500 EIO hard disk, I'd rather find another fix. Any suggestions would be helpful.
