Start up the Notes client.2) If that does not work, then your location document is possibly corrupt. Open the notes.ini file in your c:\lotus\notes folder. Look for the line that starts with "Location =" and delete the rest of the line after the equals sign. This will cause Notes to start with the first location document in your address book. Save and close the file and restart Notes.3) If the above solution did not work, then the first location document is maybe corrupt. You can rename your address book in your c:\lotus\notes\data folder (the default filename is names.nsf) and create a new one. You will then have to recreate your old location document. (Passwords are case sensitive - be sure to use correct upper and lower case.)' Locations cannot be used until the problem has been corrected. http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1087167 Answer This issue is caused by a locally encrypted Personal Address Book. The Location document is loaded into memory before the ID is accessed and, therefore, the workstation cannot decrypt the database. This generates the error. This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering. Encrypting the Local Personal Address Book is not recommended. Workaround: To work around http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21086385 this issue you must temporarily set up another database as the Personal Address Book so that the encryption can be disabled on the original. 1. Exit Notes 2. From the operating system copy the Pernames.ntf file to TempPnab.nsf 3a. Edit the Notes.INI file 3b. Find the "Names=" line. Note the original setting and then update the line to read "Names=TempPnab.nsf" 4. Start Notes 5a. Select the database icon of the original Personal Name & Address Book database. 5b. Select File, Database, Properties, click the Encryption button, select the option "Do not locally encrypt this database". 5c. Select File, Database, Properties, select the Info tab, click the Compact button. 6. Once the database has been compacted (this will be noted in the Status line), exit Notes. 7. Edit the Notes.INI file and edit the "Names=" line so that it specifies the original Personal Name & Address Book. 8. Delete the TempPnab.nsf. an invalid on disk structure' sending Notes mail lotus notes; sending mail; error; Server Error; This http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237450 database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure; messages Technote (troubleshooting) Problem In Lotus Notes, you receive the following error message when sending mail messages: "Server http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/other/other-aa/lotus-notes/247-lotus-notes-8-5 Error: This database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure". The mail still sends successfully. Resolving the problem This issue can occur if the user unable to has "Always keep a copy" selected for the "Save mail that you sent" option under File > Preferences > User Preferences > Mail. If changing this setting to not keep a copy allows the user to successfully send the message, this would indicate a problem with the Sent folder being corrupt. Running fixup, compact and updall unable to create on the mail database should resolve the problem in this case. In one case, running these utilities did not resolve the issue and resulted in additional errors such as "Database is corrupt -- cannot allocate space." Further, when this database was opened in a browser, the error "HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - Special database object cannot be located" displayed. Finally, an attempt to recompile all of the LotusScript code in the database resulted in 'Invalid syntax' errors. The solution in this case was to create a new database for the user and copy/paste all existing documents into the new mail database (as in technote #1110903).
