Answer: The oerr utility shows this for the ORA-27086 error: ORA-27086: unable to lock file - already in use Cause: the file is locked by http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_27086_unable_to_lock_file.htm another process, indicating that it is currently in use by a database instance. Action: determine which database instance legitimately owns this file. This is not an Oracle error, it has an external cause an you will want to contact your OS systems administrator. I had shutdown the source database before transfering the backup.. we have taken cold backup of database and moved to target machine. then while tried to run "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTer" in target server it gives me the error at 50%. could you please help me to find out the root cause.. I guess its a issue with NFS mount point, also raised request to our system to have a check with mount point, because where the DBF files have been kept .. those are storage mount points.
