to create the Direct3D device #44 Closed monkeyboy1970 opened this Issue May 8, 2014 mame32 · 8 comments Projects None yet Labels None yet Milestone No milestone Assignees No one assigned 4 participants mame emulator monkeyboy1970 commented May 8, 2014 Mame launches fine from the command line, no issues. Many different versions of Mame work fine. However, when launching via the frontend, I get a black screen. If I http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=271388&page=0&view=expanded&sb=7&o=&vc=1 alt-tab, the Mame window becomes active and runs fine. If I alt tab through the active windows while Mame is running, there is also a DOS window with the message 'Unable to create the Direct 3D device, repeated many times. If I alt-tab back to the Mame window and escape back to the frontend the DOS window disappears. Strange thing is, after a reboot, the frontend works as intended and https://github.com/mickelson/attract/issues/44 launches Mame just fine but only once, then the above problem occurs until I reboot. I've used all the available layouts, including a very basic one with no fancy transitions and the problem still persists. Brilliant work BTW :) Owner mickelson commented May 12, 2014 hi thanks, What version of windows are you running? This might be something updating your video drivers could help with, as my guess is this has to do with the video transitioning from opengl to directx. monkeyboy1970 commented May 12, 2014 I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I tried switching drivers and the problem persisted. Odd that it works once after a reboot then continues to fail. The laptop I'm using is only a testbed and your frontend works great on my cabinet, I just thought it would be worth reporting the issue for better compatibility. If you want to look up the specs it's an HP Elitebook 8440p with a Core I5 Vpro processor with Intel HD onboard graphics and 4gb of ram. An excellent frontend by the way, I'm enjoying tinkering with it very much. Kind Regards. … On May 12, 2014 6:49 AM, "Andrew Mickelson" ***@***.***> wrote: hi thanks, What version of windows are you running? This
