This will be just related to the directory / folder you attempt writing to. Mostly, this is when you have a directory within yout MATLAB installation. Try a different directory. If difficulties persist, let us know the OS, the MATLAB release and the directory name. 3 Comments Show all comments Jared Jared (view profile) 1 question 0 answers 0 accepted answers Reputation: 0 on 10 Jan 2012 Direct link to this comment: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/25725#comment_56944 I have been able to save the .dat file as a .m file in a seperate folder from the editor. Is writing in the directory possible? –Daniel Feb 24 '15 at 4:59 Yes, by using [success, message] = fileattrib. I got 1 for UserRead and UserWrite. –Pankaj Feb 24 '15 at 5:02 Is there enough space on your hard drive to write to file? A long shot, but I might as well ask. –rayryeng Feb 24 '15 at 5:51 1 Did you try writing to another directory? Is it just that particular one that is causing the problem? –rayryeng Feb 24 '15 at 6:13 1 Could it be the file exists and is locked by another program? Virus scanners just love to do that. –bdecaf Feb 24 '15 at 6:30 | show 2 more comments 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote In Matlab write command PWD it will give you directory or folder in which matlab is trying to save file So problem is with the permission of that folder your OS is not giving permission to Matlab to write files So Solve this issue Copy the path that PWD command has given you Paste that in Windows Explorer Go to that folder's Properties than go to security and change the permission of as per your requirements that worked for me share|improve this answer answered Mar 26 at 11:17 Jameel Qureshi 11 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
