Error "Unable to create a movie file, it may be open in another application?" PDA View Full Version : maya playblast qt Maya Error "Unable to create a movie file, it may be open in another application?" jwbanimation08-20-2012, 08:12 AMHi guys, I'm brand new to Maya and I've been reading this book called "Introducing Maya maya playblast not working 2013" and I just got done with this solar system project. I'm trying to use the Playblast option but every time I click on Playblast I get an Error that says "//Error: line 0: Unable to create a movie file. It may be open by another application." So I quit the Maya application and restarted it and tried to use playblast again, but to no avail.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 15 (Late 2011 Model) with 8 GB RAM and 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with a 750 GB hybrid hard drive/solid state drive. Can someone please help me get around this issue? Is there another way to output a scene so that I can watch the playback? mickmeister08-21-2012, 05:34 PMHi, What are your settings in the playblast options set to? Is 'save to file' checked on? Perhaps it saved your playblast and opened it already? but you probably would have noticed if it had opened. Panupat08-21-2012, 05:47 PMDo you have any movie player playing the previous playblast? jwbanimation08-21-2012, 09:08 PMDo you have any movie player playing the previous playblast? No it doesn't look like it. I've closed all my video playing programs just in case. Here are my playblast settings. I'm also using a Mac. The image is in windows because I have playblast working on my HP laptop. I'm just trying to get it to work on my Mac though because that's mainly what I use. http://s18.postimage.org/spxbhsqcl/playblastsettings.jpg (http://postimage.org/image/spxbhsqcl/) http://s18.postimage.org/otjzlt5d5/playblastsettings.png CGTalk Moderation08-21-2012, 09:08 PMThis thread has been automatically closed as it remained inactive for 12 months. But to playblast I usually set my render settings as 1024*576. then in quality choose https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Unable-to-Save-Scene-as-MA-file-or-Maya-crashes-when-saving-as-MB-file.html production.when producing a playblast, click from render settings as your display size.I'm guessing that may solve it if your playblast quality is currently set to low. Really wish I could help. Even googled it to see if i could find out. If nobody can help here, u could post the issue on simplymaya.com. They have lots of techi geeks over there lol, so they maybe unable to able to solve your problem. I can't read the whole post so I'm wondering if you know about the graph editor/curve editor? Around frame 11 and 12 the ball slows down and stretches out as if it's reaching to the ground, then on 13 in makes contact with the ground. The slowness is perhaps caused by the curve between the keys. Now, I don't know about workflows but my approach has changed to apply the squash and stretch after getting comfortable with the timing and spacing of the ball. That way I can focus on one thing before moving on to the next step. The graph editor in Maya can be found on the tab "Window" > Animation Editor > Graph Editor.I'm copying/pasting from another thread:http://www.markheidenberg.com/ballgraph.jpgThis is a Graph Editor or Curve Editor. You can google it and read about it, It's weird explaining it but a bouncing ball helps us understand the graph.Direct LinkIt's my ball bounce I did awhile back, I never did squash and stretch to it yet. It might not be perfect, but then again, it might be, I'm too much of a newbie to tell for myself! Now in my Graph Editor, see the green line? That's the Y Axis, that's the up and down of the ball. Pretend my ball in the video isn't going to the left and bouncing off the wall, like pretend it's stationary and just going up and down. It mirrors that greenCompatibilityCustomer ServiceInstallation, Activation & LicensingNetwork License AdministrationAccount ManagementContact UsCommunityForumsBlogsIdeasContributionArticle ContributionsScreencastFree Learning Resources You are hereHomeSupport & LearningMayaTroubleshooting OverviewGetting StartedLearn & ExploreDownloadsTroubleshooting OverviewGetting StartedLearn & ExploreDownloadsTroubleshooting To translate this article, select a language.
