Set up went smoothly, and I was able to stream to my PC browser, so I purchased https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201814657-Unable-to-sign-in-to-Plex-Account a 1-month Plex pass required to use the VIZIO Plex app. I try to start up the Vizio plex app, and get a "No media server found" message, with a extra bit that says "make sure your server is signed in to plex.tv" I go to the server settings and attempt to connect: "There was a problem signing in" https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/147262/server-cant-sign-in-to-plex-problem-signing-in I've checked and double-checked my router settings, tried to enable uPnP, manually set up port forwarding, all to no avail. For some reason "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically" wasn't working. I'm not sure why, since I have my router configured as a local DNS cache. 0 Answers sa2000 Posts: 25,067Members, Plex Pass, Plex Ninja, Plex Team Member Plex Team Member February 2015 Something quick to check: Provided the account is proven to sign in ok on plex.tv, most cases of sign in errors like this are caused by certificate errors due to the system date/time being wrong and not accurate. The Plex Media Server.log with debug enabled will show if the sign in is to do with the certificate validation 0 veri745 Posts: 7Members Plex Pass February 2015 Looks like my media server just can't connect to plex.tv: Feb 14, 2015 20:01:33 [0xa62b3b70

So DHCP and DNS are handled by my router. I did have Amahi's DHCP and DNS running for a while, but then switched back to my router. I've been accessing everything I need with unable to the IP addresses of the server and so far that's been working fine. After getting and activating a Plex pass yesterday I have now discovered that I can't log in to the Plex server from the Web interface. I just get the "There was a problem signing in to Plex" message. I can see and use all my libraries and even create users, but without signing in to the server I can't make any unable to connect meaningful configuration changes. It's definitely not individual browsers or computers -- I've tried it on multiple browsers and Windows and Mac computers and the result is the same everywhere. My guess is that the Amahi packaged version of Plex is internally hard-wired to reference only the plexms.amahi.net address, and doesn't reference the IP address directly. This would explain why I was able to log in before -- probably while I was using Amahi as the DHCP and DNS server -- and why it is now not working. I also can't uninstall the Amahi Plex package from the web console, probably for the same reason. Is that a correct assumption? If so, what do I need to do to uninstall the Amahi Plex package so that I can then install the normal vanilla version of Plex for Fedora 19? I don't want to switch back to Amahi's DHCP and DNS just to do that because there are too many family members who would go ballistic if they had to release and renew their IP leases all over again...
