The How-To Geek Forums Have Migrated to Discourse How-To Geek Forums / Windows XP Unable to burn DVD using .mpg video files - HELP! (5 posts) Started 7 years ago by lfrazee Latest reply from ScottW Topic Viewed 1044 times lfrazee Posts: 2 This post has been reported. Hey everyone, I'm having some problems creating/burning a DVD using some .mpg video files from my video camera. I've taken them off the camera and put them on my hard drive. I'm pretty sure the files are MPEG-2 file format and I'm not even able to view them in windows media player 11 -- I can only use the VLC media player. Windows media player says I http://forum.nero.com/nero_eng/topics/unable_to_import_video am missing a codec. How can I burn these files to a DVD so that they are viewable in either a DVD player once burned or at least just in Windows Media Player? I am using the program NERO Essentials 7/ NERO Vision 4 but when I try to upload the video file in order to burn it it says the following error message: "Missing Features: Dolby AC3 2 Channel Decoding, MPEG-2 Video Decoding" I'm really sorry if this is http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/unable-to-burn-dvd-using-mpg-video-files-help confusing - i'm very confused myself! :S If anyone can help or think of what the problem is... it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you! Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top ScottW Posts: 6609 This post has been reported. lfrazee, hello. What operating system are you using? If you are not doing it this way then that's the problem. Try again...... maybe you didn't do it this way and hit the wrong method or something. NOTE: check outAll Supported Video Files! IHoe, Sep 4, 2007 #6 bethefin Member Joined: Aug 13, 2006 Messages: 46 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 Sorry! Nothing will add into video files.I am still getting the unable to insert message. bethefin, Sep 4, 2007 #7 IHoe Senior member Joined: May 21, 2005 Messages: 6,431 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 then I would save my serial #, uninstall Nero, do a registry clean up, defrag the computer, reboot, then reinstall Nero and try again! IHoe, Sep 4, 2007 #8 Camvike Member Joined: Dec 5, 2007 Messages: 1 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 I had this same problem. I was able to fix it by going into the nero setup utility and choosing to reinstall just nero vision. It kinda faked a reinstall (because it was already there) but whatever it did seems to have fixed it. Camvike, Dec 5, 2007 #9 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Program: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Nero Showtime\NeroShowtime.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. (When I use Nero Vision substitute 'Nero Vision' for 'Nero Showtime' in the above error). I have the latest version of Nero 7 Ultra Edition. I have uninstalled, used the Clean program, installed with and without InCD. I have tried to disable my virus scanner and firewall. None of these things have worked. I use to have Roxio on my computer but have taken it off. Still nothing. I can get these files to play on my VLC media player but not on my Windows Media Player, that one doesn't even register they exist. I'm not worried about that but thought I'd add that info in in case it's helpful. I've read in a many posts about copying your history log on to here to help but I'm not sure how to do that. I installed ffdshow but perhaps I didn't configure it correctly as the same message appeared with no change. How does Nero know to use ffdshow to help it open the mp4 file?
