Issue When you start Adobe Photoshop, it returns the error "Unable to continue because of hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable." When you try to save a file from Photoshop, it returns the error "Could not load alert resource!" Solutions Do one or more of the following: Solution 1 If you use Windows https://forums.adobe.com/thread/944721 XP, run the Windows Program Compatibility Wizard to ensure that Photoshop isn't running in a compatibility mode: 1. Choose > Start > All Programs > Accessories > Program Compatibility Manager. 2. Click Next, and then select an option to locate Photoshop. 3. Select Adobe Photoshop, and click Next. 4. Select "Do not apply a compatibility mode," and click Next. 5. Uncheck any options for Select Display Settings for the Program, and click Next. 6. To test Photoshop https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/photoshop-error-need-really-help-fast/1350 with the new compatibility settings, click Next. Proceed as follows: -- If Photoshop starts, exit it from it, return to the compatibility wizard, and select "Yes, set this program to always use these compatibility settings." Click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the wizard. -- If Photoshop doesn't start, exit from the wizard, and see the other solutions in this document. Solution 2 Defragment the hard disk where you installed Photoshop. To defragment the hard disk, use either the Disk Defragmenter utility included with Windows or a third-party disk utility, such as Symantec Norton Utilities. Solution 3 If you installed Windows XP over a prior version of Windows, perform a clean reinstall of Windows XP, and then reinstall Photoshop: 1. Back up the files you want to save, for example, Photoshop files you created. 2. Uninstall Photoshop, and then uninstall Windows XP. 3. Perform a clean install of Windows XP: That is, select New Installation for Windows XP, not Quick Upgrade. 4. Reinstall Photoshop. For more information, see "Windows XP Install Notes." Solution 4 If you upgraded from Mac OS 9.0.4 to OS 9.1, remove and then reinstall Photoshop. Note: Before you reinstall Photoshop, be sure to move any personal files from the Photoshop folder to another location. Solution 5 Rename all AdobeFnt.lst files on each hard disk (for example, to AdobeFnt.old), and then star
all new games crash Next message: [Wine] Data Access problem? Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] I https://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2008-July/038454.html recently came across a post (circa jan-feb 2008) where a user had encountered http://www.justskins.com/forums/unable-to-continue-because-49299.html a fatal and unrecoverable crash when starting Photoshop for the second or subsequent time. I've noticed that this issue has happened to many people, myself included while installing it on someone's system today, and that, while there is a short-term workaround (noted below), nobody has yet posted an actual unable to permanent fix for the problem. I worked one out this afternoon, and thought I'd share it with you all, in order to prevent frustration for anyone out there I can help. Here is my synopsis, as detailed as I can make it: Problem: Adobe Photoshop CS2 crashes upon startup with an unrecoverable hardware error. This error occurs on the second and subsequent starts. unable to continue Symptoms: After loading plugins, tools, brushes, etc., the program halts with the error message "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable." Clicking OK results in hard crash. Affected systems: Windows (any), and in Linux or Mac while running under Wine or Crossover Office. Who cares about Windows, let's discuss Wine and Crossover under Linux. Diagnosis: This problem is related to a settings file that is created and modified each time Photoshop runs and exits. Quick Fix: You can force Photoshop CS2 to start by holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT while starting the application in Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+Shift in Mac OSX. You will be presented with a dialog box that asks if you wish to delete the settings file. Selecting Yes will delete the file, and allow the application to start as normal. PERMANENT FIX: The permanent fix is actually very simple. The problematic file is the General Settings file, "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp", which references the default fonts Adobe expects to be installed. If for any reason these fonts, or any other files, are not i

There has been no other problem. Thanks for answering.
