HARD...(I think it's bleeding) Here's what happened: I needed to install AVG 8.0 to one of our computers with Windows 2000. While running the install, it told me that I need to update to the latest service pack. It already had service pack 4 but I need to install a newer version(Service Pack 4 Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows 2000 ). So I did. After restarting, computer reboots normally, but no internet connection, no LAN connection. IPCONFIG shows nothing. IPCONFIG /renew returns "no adapters bound to tcp ip are enabled for dhcp". Ping to loopback address 127.0.0.1 returns "unable to contact IP Driver, Error Code 2" Here are the things I've done so far which did not help : 1. Uninstall the NIC from device manager. Then install back via Add New Harware Wizard. 2. I replaced NIC with a different card (Different manufacturer) which also didn't help. I had done the same thing on one of our computers and I didn't encounter this problem.

Posted: 02-13-2004, 03:23 AM Richard Guest Posts: n/a Show Printable Version Email this Page Post Comment This message is the result of the standard "ping 127.0.0.1". I cannot configure my laptop's network at all. I attempted to "deinstall" all the network interfaces, but without success. The computer suffered many disk errors, not fatal, on a recent trip, and now I am stuck. I attempted various "netsh" commands, including resetting the IP stack. The knowledge base is not helpful.
