It sees the Wireless network and connects but it never receives an IP unable to contact ip driver ping address, so it can't access the Internet. I've tried uninstalling TCP/IP, the network cards and tried connecting directly to the cable modem without any luck. This PC worked fine before my wife took it on a trip. She says that the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/error-unable-to-contact-ip-driver-error-code-2-not/50e1ba8b-924b-439b-a14b-e440ccee924d only thing she did was try to access a wireless network on her return trip. In researching the problem I tried deleting the WINSOCK & WINSOCK2 entries from the registries but it didn't help. My guess is that I have corrupted file somewhere. When doing a ipconfig, I get an IP 'Driver, error code 2" error. Me and 2 other techie friends spent several hours trying to fix the problem to no avail. Has anyone else run across this problem and how did https://forums.techguy.org/threads/cant-get-an-ip-address-ip-driver-error-code-2.376765/ you fix it? cgrablew, Jun 30, 2005 #1 Sponsor id4vikas Joined: May 14, 2005 Messages: 6 Hi, Which operating system are u using? If u r using windows XP then u must follow this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259 Hope it works for u. -) id4vikas, Jun 30, 2005 #2 cgrablew Thread Starter Joined: Jun 30, 2005 Messages: 3 Yes I am using XP. Any ideas on what this may be? Not only does the error message 'unable to connect IP driver, error code 2' come up upon an ping request, but the CD/DVD drivers have packed in. There are no yellow query markers next to these in the 'device' manager either. I have uninstalled the adaptor drivers for the ip error, this to avail. Is it best to resort to a 'factory reset' ? If so does anyone know what the procedure is for this ? I attempted a System Restore with no joy, nothing, zilch. Help Dulps Remove Advertisements Sponsored Links Tec

HARD...(I think it's bleeding) Here's what happened: I needed to install AVG 8.0 to one of our computers with Windows 2000. While running the install, it told me that I need to update to the latest service pack. It already had service pack 4 but I need to install a newer version(Service Pack 4 Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows 2000 ). So I did. After restarting, computer reboots normally, but no internet connection, no LAN connection. IPCONFIG shows nothing. IPCONFIG /renew returns "no adapters bound to tcp ip are enabled for dhcp". Ping to loopback address 127.0.0.1 returns "unable to contact IP Driver, Error Code 2" Here are the things I've done so far which did not help : 1. Uninstall the NIC from device manager. Then install back via Add New Harwa
