the home screen or the battery icon just disappears completely! However, when I plug the mini-USB charger into it the the phone lights up so it does recognise something is plugged in. I know it isn't the battery as I've checked this and tried swapping with another V3 and it works fine and the other phone's battery makes no difference to my phone. When the battery icon and 'Unable to Charge' message is displayed I've noticed a new icon appears next to the battery one at the top right-hand corner of the home screen. I don't recognise it but it looks like a phone with a straight vertical line either side with 2 chevrons (^ but facing inwards) about 1/4 way from top & bottom of each line. Otherwise the phone works perfectly!!! This is a bad design and frequently suffers from the "unable to charge problem". Clean the contacts with a little alcohol, or gently scrape the contacts with a pin. The middle pin is the one that causes the "unable to charge" problem. I have fixed hundreds of Motorola phones for this problem. Sometimes the connector breaks loose inside the phone as well and needs to be resoldered. I have not seen your phone yet, so I don't know it they have changed the connector yet, yours might be different. Last edited by amdkt7; February 22nd, 2006 at 07:50 PM. It fits perfectly, but I get a message on the phone that reads "unauthorized charger". I have done some research and found that this occurs frequently with after-market chargers, and sometimes even with OEM charges. Usually, folks raise this question when they plug their phone into the USB port on their computer. I am only concerned with car use and charging. Regardless of the message, will the phone still drawer power from the car? Will it still charge? #2 (permalink) 10-26-2006, 04:15 AM SteveC Guest Posts: n/a Re: Razr "Unauthorized Charger" Yes "Z Man"
