I have tried the following:Run various fixes from Microsoft.com to "fix" windows update service (as shown here http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/)Added update website to IE9 (as shown here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072efd)Turn off Windows firewallTurn off AVGRun various checkers such as malwarebytes, Spybot, Ad-aware, CCleaner, TDSSKillerCheck for proxy serverIn every case I still get Windows Update error 80072efd. After installing the update and Windows Update restarted I immediately received that error when trying to search for updates. I'm not even able to get to the part where I pick the updates, it just fails seconds after I press the button to search for updates. After googling abit I found out that the error is somehow related to ones internet connection and firewall http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/243012-windows-update-error-80072efd.html settings, but even after changing the internet connection and disabling antivirus/firewall I still won't get it to work. Error 80072EF means something is blocking Windows Update from accessing the update server, and this means the 'update' you downloaded was most likely a virus.
