After putting site into maintenance mode via the web, decided to use drush to do both the ctools and core updates. Problem was I was logged in as root and not as the site owner, so all the file ownership was wrong, and that's what caused the drupal 404 error 500 error. Chown'd everything back to normal, and now site is working fine. Log in or register to post comments error 500 Markus64289 commented August 25, 2015 at 1:15pm Hi, I`ve updated my core 7.38 to 7.39. After this I can´t edit any content, because of a Error 500 ["Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)"]. I din´t change the permissions of any files (all files are 640, all folders are on 755, /sites is on 777). .htaccess, web.config, .gitignore are equal to the older one. Does anybody knows a solution? However, several of my nodes that use media fields were getting HTTP 500 (WSOD) if accessed by an anonymous user. Logged in users could see the page, no prob. I was getting "[notice] child pid XXXX exit signal Segmentation fault (11)" in apache error.log D7.22, caches fully flushed and I debugged for about 2 hours. I have installed and used successfully a number of modules, including CCK, vews, imagefield and filefield, and some others. I have a recurring problem of receiving an HTTP 500 internal server error upon http://www.zingersystems.com/blogs/drupal_500_internal_server_error_solution refresh in attempting to enable a newly added module. I am using v 6.12 on a hosted site. This does not seem to be related to any particular module. I have resolved it by removing and re-adding the 500 error offending modules, keeping my number of active modules low, and holding my mouth crooked. In other words, I really can't figure out what is going on. I did a search on this site, found some instruction re a repair.php page to rebuild the menu, which I tried, but to no avail. I am currently trying to add the emfield module to reference video and audio files. I could see the module listed, enabled the components, then drupal 500 error upon saving the page, got the error, and a blank page. It is enabled, though, because I see it showing up on other configuration pages. Aggh. I have not done any fancy rewriting And finally, in poking around my host's interface to the apps, I see that I now can update Drupal to 6.13 (not .14, yet) as well as implement an update of php. So I will try that, and try to assure I have the memory set high enough. I may need to request that of my host. I am wondering, in the meantime, since everyth
often, this error originitates from a poor configuration of a .htaccess file i.e configurations in the file are not compatible with settings on the server on which your Drupal website has been installed. php.ini, htpasswd files that are wrecked are also possible causes of this famous problem. However, breathe! Most of the time, this problem can be fixed by doing a little bit of work in your .htaccess file Solution Always start by checking out your apache/nginx log files as they are the best tools to pin-point the root cause If you are using PHP5 then in your .htaccess file, locate the following block # PHP 5, Apache 1 and 2.
