Usually 500 comes with "Internal server error" and best error 500 pages 404 comes with "Page not found". If it worked before, but now you suddenly get the 500 error, it might have to do custom 500 error page with the server. Try contacting your hosting company. Most of the time, 500 errors are temporary, so you could try a hard refresh on your browser (CTRL-F5 or Cmd-Shift-R on Mac) to see if the site is

back up. WPIndex @rohanmehta19 8 months, 2 weeks ago This error mostly occurs due to either improper .htaccess file or PHP memory limit on your server To check if its an htaccess issues try to go back to the default htaccess file from a fresh WP install For php memory limit check what is limiting i.e. wp-config or the server itself Tara @t-p Volunteer Moderator 8 months, 2 weeks ago Internal server errors (error 500) are 500 error page examples often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don't have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause. If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme for your version of WordPress to rule-out a theme-specific issue. If you don't have access to your admin panel, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account's control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue. If that does not resolve the issue, it's possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account's control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can't find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files. If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we

RewriteEngine On # Don't rewrite requests to /de or other real files RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*/(css|scripts) # Rewrite incoming requests to their equivalent behind /de RewriteRule ^(.*)$ de/$1 [L,QSA] Alas I'm very http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9809464/500-internal-server-error-instead-of-404-not-found unfamiliar with .htaccess. Where's the mistake in this one which causes the 500 instead of the 404 error? This is the error in the logfile: Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace. Edit: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ de/$1 [L,QSA] This part is responsible for the error. Why does it prevent the 404-error page though? .htaccess redirect http-status-code-404 share|improve this question edited Nov 18 '15 at 14:49 pnuts 33.7k63569 asked Mar 21 '12 at 17:07 BlueHorizon 67212 1 Seems that you've produced an infinite rewrite loop or something similar. –Uwe Keim Mar 21 '12 at 17:09 Yes, that seems to be the case. That error should be caused by the .htaccess above because without it, the error does not occur. But how to fix thix? –BlueHorizon Mar 21 '12 at 17:13 1 I'm no mod_rewrite expert at all; I would try reading the documentation and comment out all lines then start commenting in line by line until it breaks. To quote: "The great thing about mod_rewrite is it gives you all the configurability and flexibility of Sendmail. The downside to mod_rewrite is tha

The main issue seems to be directory related. I built the applications in dreamweaver using developer toolbox to augment my 500 error page code writing skills. That said, I can't get the admin pages to render, I only get the 404 or 500 error. The pages are there and the website itself runs correctly i.e. it pulls data and displays correctly. The update pages in the admin directory are the problem. I am curious if CF10 changes how it allows includes or directory structure.Website rootjakartaCFIDEincludesimagesadminmiscindex.cfmAdmin uses files from includes directory.... Works fine in CF8. 'NO GO HERE'Access Data Driver working fine.... Well except that I can't get the update pages to display.I have the virtual directories for jakarta installed in the root also. Any ideas on where to start looking. debugging pages aren't displaying either. When designing your web pages, it is often helpful to customize every piece of content that your users will see. This includes error pages for when they request content that is not available. In this guide, we'll demonstrate how to configure Nginx to use custom error pages on Ubuntu 14.04. Prerequisites To get started on with this guide, you will need a non-root user with sudo privileges. You can set up a user of this type by following along with our initial set up guide for Ubuntu 14.04. You will also need to have Nginx installed on your system. Learn how to set this up by following this guide. When you have completed the above steps, continue with this guide. Creating Your Custom Error Pages We will create a few custom error pages for demonstration purposes, but your custom pages will obviously be different. We will put our custom error pages in the /usr/share/nginx/html directory where Ubuntu's Nginx sets its default document root. We'll make a page for 404 errors called custom_404.html and one for general 500-level errors called custom_50x.html. You can use the following lines if you are just testing. Otherwise, put your own content in these locations:
- echo "
