C# Throw 500 Error
favorite IDE: Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate Language: C# ASP.NET webpage (aspx) Problem: Hi! I have an assignment for school and I am making a website using ASP.NET (C#) and I need to have 3 custom errors added. I know how to force a 404 error (page not found) and a 500 error (error in code behind of the page) but I need a 3rd one and I don't know what response.statuscode c# ones I can force. In my navigation menu I have a href to "404page.aspx" but that one doesn't exist in my solution so I get the 404 error. In the menu I also have a href to "500error.aspx" and there I have wrong code in the code behind ("500error.aspx.cs") so I get the 500 error. Web.Config file:

I have the 404 page working fine, but when testing a server error I get the default message: Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request. Instead of my custom page. I have set this up in the web.config:
do you return http://www.brandonmartinez.com/2012/08/28/return-a-500-error-in-asp-net-mvc/ a 500 Server Error (or any other HTTP http://www.telerik.com/forums/simulating-500-error-with-autoresponder Status Code) from ASP.NET MVC? Thankfully, it's extremely simple; all you have to do is return a new HttpStatusCodeResult with whatever code you'd like: return new HttpStatusCodeResult(500); "500" can be replaced with whatever HTTP 500 error Status Code you'd like. It's an invaluable part of my workflow, and I really appreciate the work put into it. My question is , is it possible to use the AutoResponder to respond with a 500 status code, or any other status code than 200 and 404? I have read the AutoResponder docs and can't see anything, but perhaps there's something I'm missing, or some undocumented *action that can do this? My use case is that I want to test the error handling in my application's REST API by selectively breaking different paths and checking that the UI handles it sensibly. The simplest way to do it would be to pick any of the "50x_.dat" files that are listed in the "Reply with File" section of the Actions dropdown. Back to Top Close .NET TOOLBOX DevC
