I just spent a few hours troubleshooting this and I hope I can help save more hours of the same for others. I looked this up and found a lot of

false leads then I came up with a solution which fixes this for me on my server, so I'll list it all here and hopefully people can add to it if I miss anything. Also if my fix falls apart after a while I can post it back here and see if we can all go back and review the steps and at least have a list of what works and what doesn't work. So this is how it started for me: I just installed PHP 5.3 on my production server Windows 2008 32-bit, I got the download msi installer from http://windows.php.net/download/ the VC9 Non-Thread safe version. I set everything up with the php.ini fine and it worked fine. But after about an hour using WordPress 2.8.2 I kept getting 500 Internal Server Errors and the detailed description from the server Browser says: The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly Module FastCgiModule Notification ExecuteRequestHandler Handler PHP_via_FastCGI Error Code 0xc0000005 I tried all the usual fixes, I set the error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED I also set the date.timezone ="America/Los_Angeles" - don't know if the quotes matter I also read that setting Write permission for the Anonymous Identity on the wp-content folde

The website is running on PHP5.2.1 and I can only upload files (so no registry tweaks). I had tested the website before and everything seemed to be http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1696867/debugging-500-internal-server-error-on-php-running-on-iis7-cluster working, but now the checkout page fails with: 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. As error messages go, this isn't very informative. I've tried: ini_set('display_errors', 1); ini_set('error_log', $file_php_can_write_to ); but both don't seem to do anything. Anyone know how to get better debugging output? php iis iis-7 share|improve this question edited Dec 24 '12 at 22:07 Charles 40.2k1069107 asked Nov 8 '09 at 15:29 Matthijs P 6921615 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 24 down vote accepted Edit : Looks like we have a similar question in serverfault. Check it out Turning off IIS7 custom errors will allow error responses from your application to be sent to remote clients without being censored by the IIS7’s custom errors module. You can do this from the IIS7 Admin tool by running “Start>Run>inetmgr.exe”, selecting your website/application/virtual directory in the left-hand tree view, clicking on the “Error Pages” icon, clicking “Edit Feature Settings” action, and then selecting “Detailed Errors” Source share|improve this answer edited Nov
takes a few minutes. Join Now I'm trying to setup a POC ownCloud server on Windows 2008 R2. I'm following the instructions at this link http://forum.owncloud.org/viewtopic.php?t=2370.
I get as https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/402833-php-not-working-with-iis-server-error-500 far as installing PHP, but when I test php in the browser I get a 500 server error. I've installed PHP 5.5.5 x86 non Thread Safe, C++ Redistributable Visual Studio 2012 x86 and enabled the IIS features in the How to. I've rebooted, reinstalled PHP and VS Redistributable and runn iisreset. The info.php file I'm using for testing is in c:\inetpub\wwwroot and I'm accessing it from 500 error IE at http://myserver/info.php I've attached my php.ini php.ini (71.2 KB) Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: Adding PHP 5.6.6 to IIS 7.5 = error 500 PHP Call to Function Error PHP on IIS not working, no errors help?   5 Replies Cayenne OP mhache Nov 1, 2013 at 4:15 UTC Can you post the server error? 0 Cayenne OP Best php iis 500 Answer Jonathan2738 Nov 1, 2013 at 4:34 UTC I would recommend using Microsoft's PHP installer unless you MUST have 5.5.5. http://www.microsoft.com/web/platform/phponwindows.aspx 1 Serrano OP Carlton3412 Nov 1, 2013 at 6:01 UTC Thanks Jonathan. I wish they would have included the msi option in the owncloud instructions. It would have saved me a couple of hours of pain.
