If not, how can I allow them access to this service only? Thanks in advance. In Terminal Services Configuration, check out the properties of the RDP-tcp connection, Permissions tab. Add your group, give them User Access, then click Advanced, choose the group, click Edit, and add the Remote Control permission. I'm operating from memory here to some degree, but Irecallfrom other environments I've worked in that this allows them to open Terminal Services Manager, right click on a session, and choose Remote Control. I don't think there was more to it than that... Another way to offer this without allowing them into Terminal Services Manager at all is to use Group Policy to set up the domain so that offering of Remote Assistance is allowed, and make these users helpers. If you want to restrict their helping ability to just your terminal servers, put the terminal servers in an OU and link the policy with these settings there. Check computer configuration\administrative templates\system\remote assistance On the helper

If I log on as local administrator on the server with RDP and shadow the session of a domain user that works. However, if I log on with a domain user that is in the local administrators group and try to shadow the session of the same user as I tried before, I get an error: > shadow ... Remote Control failed. error Code 5 Error [5]:Access is denied. I explicitly enabled all permissions for the domain user which cannot shadow a session under: Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration -> Rdp-Tcp connection -> Security -> checked Full Control I even restarted the server after these modifications without success. I have exactly the same settings enabled on a different server and there a domain user, also being in the local administrators group can shadow sessions of other domain users. So, are there any other settings I must enable to allow screensharing? Or do I do something wrong? Is there a way to determine which permissions an existing user actually has? windows-server-2008-r2 rdp windows-terminal-services remote-desktop-servi

Join Now Hi guys, so I've been looking for the answer to this problem for a while now with no solution. Here's the issue. Terminal server 2008R2 x 4. There are some users that I can remote without a problem, other users will give me an Access is Denied there are other users that on the same server access is will allow me to remote control without any issues. this happens on all 4 TS. I log into the terminal server itself and try to remote control the sessions. Since I can remote control some users then it obviously can't be a GPO or a RDP-Tcp configuration in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration. I found on an ms forum to access is denied check Remote Control under the Remote Desktop Users on the RDP-Tcp Properties but no luck. Again, it works for some users on the same servers so a global config like this I believe should not be a problem. Then I created a new users by creating a copy of a user that CANNOT remotedesk, well, the new copy user ALLOWS me to remote desktop. I thought it could be a gpo, but all the user permissions trickle down to all the OU's no matter what department they're in. We do not have a farm setup (that's how it was when I started here and that's in my to-do list). Instead we use windows NLB (network load balancing) but doubt that's the issue....considering that one of the four TS are not part of the NLB. In AD I have checked the remote control tab to enable remote control, insteract with the session....I even unchecked the requires permission but no luck....for those that allow remote control DO HAVE the require permission checked but do not get prompted for permissions. All other
