minutes. Join Now I have been removing some roaming profiles for various users on the network. I have removed them mapping from the user's AD profile and that is all working fine. However, I am now https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/231418-access-is-denied-full-control-ownership trying to delete some of the old profile folders on the network which are no longer used. When I try to delete them, I get 'Access is Denied". I noticed that only the user (that the profile used to belong to) was listed as having any kind of access. I am able to assign myself as the owner. I then was able to add Domain Admins - Full Control and even my own username with access is Full Control. Now, when I view security tab, it shows Domain Admins and Myself as having Full Control and myself as the owner. I still get "Access is Denied". Other Notes: I tried doing this locally on the server to avoid accessing a share of any kind. The person who originally had ownership can delete the folder with no problem. Have you verified that these users are no longer referencing the old roaming profiles? 1 Serrano OP OceanV Jun 5, 2012 at 4:00 UTC did you uncheck the inheirited rights? also, make sure you get full rights to the folders and it's siblings. 3 Ghost Chili OP Kelly Armitage Jun 5, 2012 at 4:39 UTC I think Ocean nailed it....... did you propogate those security settings to the sub-folders? 3 Cayenne OP RichardMerz Jun 6, 2012 at 6:54 UTC Well, at the root folders 'username', I can add myself as owner, full rights, etc. They If I tell it to replace all child objects... I get access denied for every sub folder below. Unless I am missing something, I would have to touch every folder and subfolder in the profiles to make owner and add permissions. 0 Cayenne OP RichardMerz Jun 6, 2012 at 6:56 UTC A script to change ownership/rights of a directory (and sub dirs) would work? 0 Serrano
