Try making your own directory for your source files (under your own home directory), instead of putting them in the system path. You probably don't have permissions to write to that directory (but I'm not sure how you got your source files there). share|improve this answer a

Try to open the console in admin mode. –Heru-Luin Nov 6 '15 at 9:39 Thank you so much heru-Luin. I fixed my problem. You shouldn't put your source code in the bin directory of the JDK. Please add that bin directory to your path and create a work directory in your user home folder. share|improve this answer answered Nov 6 '15 at 9:43 Kannan Thangadurai 471317 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote You don't have write permission for active folder. My DOS command goes like this : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin>javac HelloWorld.java I highly discourage putting your source files in your JDK's folder or any of its sub folders. Create a dedicated folder for all your development work, with sub folders for each project. For instance, C:\Projects will hold all projects. Inside you have folder HelloWorld which is where the HelloWorld.java file should go. If you've set the PATH correctly, you can just type "javac HelloWorld.java" from this folder. 2. but now it shows some error in creating .class extension.... I then entered javac Hello.java and it came back with it not recognising Hello.java so I entered javac and followed this with the full path to Hello.java and it came back with: javac: invalid flag < followed by the first part of the path to Hello.java> Usage: javac
