(I've also installed JRE) As I'm new to Java, I complied the Hello World Java code given on Official Java Website: class HelloWorldApp { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello World!"); // Display the string. } } I saved the file as C:\HelloWorldApp.java And then in command prompt, I typed javac HelloWorldApp.java I got the following message: C:/HelloWorldApp.java:5: error: error while starting java file access denied HelloWorldApp: C:\HelloWorldApp.class (Access is denied) class HelloWorldApp{ ^ 1 error PS: I even tried making the class public. Also, I've specified PATH variable as C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_05\bin What may be the solution? java cmd share|improve this question edited Dec 1 '14 at 2:45 asked Jun 21 '14 at 11:58 Pranav Totla 499314 marked as duplicate by BackSlash, Boris the Spiderjava Users with the java badge can single-handedly close java questions as duplicates and reopen them as needed. You are not allowed to write files here. Copy your java files to a different directory and try to compile them there. edit: You should include C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\bin to your PATH environment variable. [ I solved this problem ] You can also add the JDK's bin folder to your PATH variable. You can use our search if you don't know how to. It's a question that has shown up multiple times already. My DOS command goes like this : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin>javac HelloWorld.java I highly discourage putting your source files in your JDK's folder or any of its sub folders.
