is denied when running the command Get-ExchangeCertificate from non-local Exchange Server Discussion in 'Exchange Server Questions' started by Mike Crowley, Mar 19, 2010. Previous Thread Next Thread Loading... 0/5, 0 votes Mike Crowley Guest As I click through the list of servers in the root of the “Server Configuration” node I get the below error on all servers except the one I am connected to. Is this to be expected? The Exchange Certificate Operation has failed with an exception. The error message is: Access is denied It was running the command "Get-ExchangeCertificate –server "cas01" Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator Mar http://www.networksteve.com/exchange/topic.php/Exchange_2007_Certificate_view_on_Power_shell/?TopicId=22980&Posts=3 19, 2010 Flag Post #1 Share Mike Crowley Guest This turned out to be a weird GPO issue.Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator Mar 19, 2010 Flag Post #2 Share Philip Spakouskas Guest Hi Mike We've got the same problem here in our test environment. Have you got a little more information on about you've solved this on your side? Thank you very much Jul 13, https://forums.slipstick.com/threads/58562-access-is-denied-when-running-the-command-get-exchangecertificate-from-non-local-exchange-server/ 2010 Flag Post #3 Share Mike Crowley Guest I don't have access to that environment anymore, but I moved the server to a new, sub-ou with inheritance blocked. Then i rebooted the server and it started working. we then reviewed the gpos that were being applied and realized one was stopping a service or something (can"t remember). Mike Crowley Check out My Blog! Jul 13, 2010 Flag Post #4 Share Philip Spakouskas Guest Thank you. We discovered about the same when moved to a new sub-ou. We even found out which GPO blocks it from running correctly, we're now currently reviewing this GPO. Jul 15, 2010 Flag Post #5 Share Previous Thread Next Thread Loading... error was showing below I login as Administrator and i am sure i have all the access in Domain and Exchange After searching we have found that the solution. On the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA folder" folder go ahead and right click, properties, security. Now for the exchange administrators I'm sure you already will see full permissions, but go ahead and click advanced, under permissions for the administrators first make sure it says "‘this folder, subfolders and files" and not "‘this folder only" and finally go ahead and check the box at the bottom that says replace permissions on all child objects just to make sure the sub folders are currently set properly. Ahh. After this i am able to renew the certificate. Please see the below screen shot Exchangegeek from msexchangegeek.com has a great post on how to renew the Exchange 2007 certificate here http://msexchangegeek.com/2009/04/24/how-to-renew-a-self-signed-certificate-in-exchange-server-2007/ Share this:TwitterEmailFacebookMorePrintRedditLike this:Like Loading...
