Also check that there is a default page configured in the root folder in the site and that the default page is listed in the default documents list for the site. http://forums.asp.net/t/1803789.aspx/1 Peter Viola MCTIP SA, EST, DBA 2008 MCSA Windows Server 2012 Please 'Mark as Answer' if this post helps you. www.peterviola.com Reply kctt 1172 Posts Re: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied Jun 11, 2013 02:28 AM|kctt|LINK You can configure application pool to run as Network Service and grant Network Service permission on website home folder. I am setting up a simple website on Windows Server 2008 R2 under IIS 7.5 using the "ASP.NET v4.0" pool. I am setting this up as an application under Default Web Site with a different root. I keep getting the 403 Forbidden error. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11111911/iis-7-5-403-forbidden I have: Installed asp.net using aspnet_regiis.exe -i (many times) Made sure my root directory (physical path) has permissions for "IIS_IUSR" and "IUSR" users. Made sure "Anonymous Authentication" is enabled and set to "Application Pool Identity" I have restarted IIS numerous times I have checked and double-checked every other configuration. What's strange is that I have another application under Default Web Site and it works just fine. Any suggestions will help. This shouldn't be so hard unless I am missing something obvious. asp.net windows iis iis-7.5 share|improve this question edited Jun 20 '12 at 12:24 asked Jun 20 '12 at 2:05 dotnetster 8811818 Questions on professional server- or networking-related infrastructure administration are off-topic for Stack Overflow unless they directly involve programming or programming tools. I guess it is because an SSL is bound to

They will take precedence over "allows". Have you compared those permissions to any other site you have, that works? Is it a public site I can test? 1 Cayenne OP Jason5373 access is denied Oct 28, 2013 at 8:19 UTC You need to setup permissions accordingly in the IIS manager and make sure your "share" (if any) permissions as well as your NTFS permissions are set corectly. Are the files/folders local or are they on a virtual directory, I.E. One other thought might be do you have a default document set on the site, or more specifically do you have the correct default document set? You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. At a very high level under IIS server if you receive 403 error code means the content is forbidden but if you deeply check the server logs from IIS you will get an error code like 403.1 or 403.16 or 403.20. For a complete list please follow the under given link which will give you more idea about the error code and description. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/318380 I faced under given error which took my one month to figure out the solution. 403.16 – Client certificate is untrusted of invalid. I would like to elaborate my environment a little bit so that it becomes more clear why i was getting this error. I configured a web application on IIS8.5 which requires a client SSL certificate for authentication. Client certificate and server certificate were completely perfect and everything seems normal. Both certificates were from the same CA and trust each other without any problem. None of them were even near to expiry date. Still application was giving this error code: 403 – Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. I Google every bit to find a solution which could solve my problem but still found nothing. Many users shared about windows updates which were released to cure the SCHANNEL vulnerabilities but created these kinds of problems. After removing and restarting my production server still the issue remained there. Under given are the URLs to those security bulletins. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms14-066.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms15-031.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 As the error suggests that there is some problem with the client certificate. Actually there is no problem with the client certificate. The problem is with the server which is hosting the IIS websit
