Xmlhttprequest Open Access Is Denied
only takes a minute: Sign up SCRIPT5: Access is denied in IE9 on xmlhttprequest up vote 41 down vote favorite 11 var xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); xhttp.open('GET', 'foo.xml', false); F12 pops back: SCRIPT5: Access is denied. on Line 95, which is the xhttp.open line. My JavaScript seems well-formed, and Firefox does what I think it should. I've read a lot of questions script5 access is denied edge very similar to this one, so I've checked out the Same Origin Policy, but I can't see how it'd apply considering foo.xml is in the same directory as the html file. I opened up the scripting permissions on my local intranet, and told McAfee to take a five-minute break, just to be sure. I even tried running IE as admin, so this can't really be a permissions issue can it? Why else would IE be denied access to a local file? javascript xmlhttprequest internet-explorer-9 share|improve this question edited Mar 25 '14 at 13:06 ndsmyter 2,80931231 asked Apr 26 '11 at 17:06 Eric L 206133 add a comment| 11 Answers 11 active oldest votes up vote 13 down vote Maybe you like to check the links below: Making cross domain JavaScript requests using XMLHttpRequest or XDomainRequest XMLHttpRequest – Mozilla Developer Network A good summary of the jQuery x-domain requests Which browser supports x-domain? share|improve this answer edited Mar 25 '14 at 13:21 Qantas 94 Heavy 9,954134158 answered Jul 26 '11 at 21:27 Horst Walter 6,1561665121 add a comment|

I had the same issue. I replaced 'about:blank' by window.location.href in the line below, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5793831/script5-access-is-denied-in-ie9-on-xmlhttprequest and this worked. 92 iframeSrc: /^https/i.test(window.location.href || '') ? 'javascript:false' : 'about:blank' mickeyze commented Feb 15, 2013 I understand that main idea in that line was to find is there is a usage of https, but after changing that line of code to iframeSrc: /^https/i.test(window.location.href || '') ? 'javascript:false' : window.location.href i don't work as all. Well function tries to execute it self, and after that it is stopped and https://github.com/malsup/form/issues/286 back to beginning. schplay commented Feb 22, 2013 I'm having this exact same problem. It works fine in Chrome but for some reason won't work in IE 8 or 9. I'm using jQuery 1.9.1 and have tried 1.9.0 and 1.8.3. I've attempted to read and apply the fix hemerfc suggested but it only added a new error to the mix. This problem only occurs when trying to actually upload the file. tburd referenced this issue Mar 1, 2013 Closed FileUpload response script is not working in IE7. #289 tburd commented Mar 1, 2013 I was discussing this problem here: #289 I have also tried to do what @hemerfc said, but the same error persists... @schplay, @mickeyze do you have issues with the demo page? http://jquery.malsup.com/form/#file-upload Anybody else? Any idea? schplay commented Mar 1, 2013 The demo page seems to work fine without the error. I've looked at the source for it and can't find any appreciable differences between it and my own code. Owner malsup commented Mar 1, 2013 I'd recommend creating a very simple test page and then adding to it until it is like the one you have that is failing. At some point it should become clear what is causing the issue (hopefully).
page, including a flash based 360 product display and an AJAX product finder filter which I wrote myself. All of this looks good and works great in all browsers except IE. https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/ie-specific-access-is-denied-error-and-jquery-tools-error/25643 I have been trying to debug these issues as I go along but I haven't had any luck so I'm the first to admit that I need help. The information on Google isn't clear and specific https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dhmYbll0n8 enough to my issue, I have no idea what error 1 below refers to and error 2 seems to suggest some cross domain AJAX issue but I'm not calling cross domain. Is there anyone who access is can spot what I have done wrong. ERROR 1 -page loads and on internet explorer a prompt comes up saying error error access is denied! I believe this relates to the 3D movie which simply uses swf object to embed the movie, if there is no flash it uses html 5 and if there isn't html5 support it loads a static image. IE does not like this at all and I access is denied have no idea how to solve it. ERROR 2 When I try to use the find a deal filter in the console I get the following error: SCRIPT5: Access is denied. jquery.tools.min.js, line 293 character 344 I have checked every script on the page with jslint and all of them are valid with no mistakes. I should also mention that I have several similar filters on this site that work flawlessly using the same AJAX syntax as I have already been down the road of checking that code, it seems to be a problem speicif to the front page and only on IE. The ridiculous thing is that after I load the page a few times it often just goes away but this isn't good enough. I may have done something blindingly obvious with the doctype or xml type but I'm very jaded from spending so much time on this so I can't spot it. I will be so grateful to anyone that can help.
