I had been using Acrobat 8. My printer/fax/scanner is a Xerox Phaser. I am running Windows 7 on a 32 bit machine. Configure Presents for scanning: My scanner name (not the WIA option as scanner does not support), Autodetect Color Mode, Front Sides, 600 dpi, Letter size, Turned-off Make Searchable. Native Mode. When I try to scan, the following error message immediately comes up: An unrecoverable error has occurred. Operation stopped. Real helpful on the error message! As I indicated, Acrobat 8 worked great. No issues. I have Paperport 12 installed and it works great. Any ideas? I did not see any Adobe contact information for support. Don't they provide support in the first 30 days for free? Maybe I overlooked something on their Support site.ThanksCurt 3839Views Categories: Windows Tags: none (add) scanningContent tagged with scanning, acrobat_10_proContent tagged with acrobat_10_pro, scanning_issuesContent tagged with scanning_issues This content has been marked as final. Have you confirmed that the Xerox Phaser supports Windows 7 and if so, have you updated to the latest driver? Are you able to scan from the Xerox from other applications? Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actio

Posted on 2011-10-04 VMware Adobe Acrobat Adobe Creative Suite CS 1 Verified Solution an unrecoverable 13 Comments 1,155 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-12 I have vmware fuse 3.0.1 on my mac. I installed adobe cs5.5. I installed brother laser jet all in one printer mfc brother 9840CDW. The virtual machine pics up that there is a printer, and that there is a scanner but it refuses to let the scanner function, and it refuses to give me an error message. Its as if the usb driver didn't get installed correctly nor an unrecoverable error did the wia driver get installed correctly. I use adobe photoshop a lot as well as adobe writer and have need of the ability to scan into both these programs. Has this happened to anyone else? Any help is appreciated. Citrix uses a format called twain redirection which comes with the system. I don't believe VMware supports scanning this way but I may be wrong. There are other solutions out there that support scanning to a server which you can purchase independently. Our company makes a solution called VirtualScan that supports scanners, webcams, check scanners and signature pads on a remote server and there are others out there who do the same. That's the good news, the bad news is that most of these solutions do not support the MAC or LInux OS's. You will need a windows based system in order to scan or image into a server. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement kdchrist Thread Starter Joined: Sep 6, 2008 Messages: 2 I recently purchased an ArtixScanDI 2010 from Microtek so I could scan a stack of 2-sided documents into pdfs. I can't get it to activate properly from Adobe Acrobat, though. When I use Acrobat as follows: Create PDF -> From Scanner -> WIA-ArtixScan DI 2010 (USB), it activates only the scanner's flatbed. When I use Acrobat as follows: Create PDF -> From Scanner -> Microtek ScanWizard DI, it activates Microtek's ScanWizard software and appears to scan with the document feeder properly, but Acrobat fails gives me an error message that reads, "An unrecoverable error has occurred. Operation stopped." The Microtek ScanWizard software can scan 1-sided documents into pdfs nicely, but not 2-sided ones. Any suggestions? kdchrist, Sep 6, 2008 #1 fairnooks Banned Joined: Oct 1, 2007 Messages: 5,251 Sounds like Acrobat just doesn't have the programming to understand or interpret two-sided scans. It might be the case that only the software that came with the scanner will be able to correctly process the information. What format and program can you or do you use to get any successful dual scan? Is it proprietary or does the documentation say it will work with almost any program? Could you perhaps scan the documents and autosave to a file and then have Acrobat read that file? I don't know, I'm just thinking of possible alternative ways to get the same thing done since Acrobat doesn't seem to recognize a streaming dual scan. fairnooks, Sep 8, 2008 #2 kdchrist Thread Starter Joined: Sep 6, 2008 Messages: 2 Thanks for the suggestions. The only software I've tried are the programs that came with the scanner (Microtek Scanwizard DI) and Acrobat. I've had Acrobat weave pdfs together using less sophisticated scanners than mine. It'll scan one side of a stack, scan the other side of the stack, and then weaving them together properly. I just don't know how to set things up so that Acrobat activates the document feeder properly (it'll activate and weave images together from the flatbed just fine)... kdchr
