This can happen if it has been moved around several times. There is a Setting in VLC that can repair the bac AVI index, but you have to enable it. Otherwiwe, you will have to use DIVFIX, if is is a DivXviD file. But before you do that, run a CHKDSK on the hard drive where you have these stored. That could also cause this to happen. Start with a quick CHKDSK, if that dont fix it, then do a full CHKDSK. My System Specs You need to have JavaScript enabled so that you can use this ... (Bad file descriptor) the subtitle is succesfully downloaded and it exists in the directory as a .gz archive by the name: Sherlock.3x03.HDTV_x264-FoV.srt.gz but it seems like the subtitle is failed to be extracted from the .gz archive, because the srt file is created but it's empty (0 byte). is this a new bug? because i'd been using vlsub on my old pc and it runs without this bug. Please help :) Thanks! kastaldi commented Jan 13, 2014 Copy the movie file on a usb key, in the main (root) directory, and try again playing that file and downloading subtitles. What happens ? pichanz commented Jan 13, 2014 well, it works! so what's the problem? I've already tried to run vlc as administrator, it still doesn't work. kastaldi commented Jan 13, 2014 No, this is not a security issue (admin vs. user). I think that there is a problem with paths in VLSub script and sometimes it fails. Using root directory, you bypass this issue. I tried to print the variables in the VLC debug window when the problem occurs but it is very hard for me to track down this bug because there are not debug tools inside VLC, such as breakpoints. I hope that VLSub author will fix it. :) Owner exebetche commented Jan 13, 2014 I assume it is related to the commit @e2280c4, it was supposed to fix issue #26 for a linux fedora user. The last commit should fix it. @kastaldi, @exKAZUu could you confirm that works for both of you? Exp
