Bios Checksum Error Beheben
Posts 10 ASUS A7N8X deluxe cmos error??? Ok i just go this board 2 days agao and cant seem to get it up and running. I took my time to make sure that everything was hooked up properly and all. My problem is when starting the computer up i get "CMOS checksum error Defaults loaded" It wount let me get into the BIOS or anything its kind of stuck at this. It asks to "insert systemdisc and lỗi bios checksum error press enter" Im kind of new at building computers and all, but what is that (sytemdisc)? Well i downloaded the updated drivers for the board and tried to put those in floppy hoping that would do something.... Nope says detecting floppy drive A media.... What why is it looking for media from the a drive? Hope someone can give me some advice other than having to RMA it. If i have to oh well. I guess. Don't RMA it yet. If you're getting "CMOS checksum error" you're already past the point where you enter the bios. Restart it and hold down the delete key before it finishes counting the ram. "Insert system disk" means it hasn't found a boot device. Again, go into the bios and set whatever you're booting from, usually a cd these days, as the first boot device. Even though you set a 2nd and 3rd device, motherboards will often hang on the first or second device if they detect it but don't find a bootable disk in it. It's looking for media in the A drive because the bios you haven't gone into yet is set to boot first from A. Hang in th

I have my http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php/374792-ASUS-A7N8X-Deluxe-BIOS-ROM-Checksum-Error system overclocked. It is Prime95 stable (tested for 12+ hours). My Corsair PC3200 Twin-X 2 x 512 MB RAM is running at 200 MHz @2.7V. The memory timings are stock ... 6-3-3-2T, I think. I've tried upping the voltage but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't always get this error when booting up, however. It happes randomly. Any ideas? A BIOS checksum error means that actual code in the BIOS is corrupted. This could be due to actual physical damage to the BIOS chip, or a bad flash. I would first set everything back to stock, and re-flash the BIOS. Reboot and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it, the BIOS chip itself is probably damaged. I haven't tried setting it back to an official BIOS and then flashing it again though. What's odd is that sometimes I get the BIOS ROM Checksum Eror but at other times the computer just won't boot - I don't get beeps, the monitor doesn't flip on, nothing. Reply With Quot
last week it has not been booting properly. From cold boot in the morning, no problem. But if it is shutdown & restarted http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-35948.html within an hour or just restarted after installing anything I get the following message at reboot. I get a buzzing noise then this appears onscreen Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0 BIOS ROM http://superuser.com/questions/42935/is-the-motherboard-the-cause-of-these-errors Checksum error Detecting Floppy drive A media INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER Almost seems like the BIOS has forgotten where the hard drive is. If the system is left off bios checksum for over an hour, no whining noise & it boots ok, but sometimes says CPU is not detected properly but it boots & goes ok. I've replaced the battery, & done all the usual. Any ideas Thanks PoWa26-07-2003, 09:05 PMSometimes you get that error if a floppy disk is left in the drive and then the system is rebooted. Have you tried bios checksum error making the hard drive the first thing to boot? E.g hda0, cdrom, floppy??? Stumped Badly26-07-2003, 11:23 PMThanks PoWa, yep 1st thing I did was to boot from hd0, floppy, CDRom. I've tried just about everything, & wonder if the BIOS is crook. Pheonix27-07-2003, 12:11 AMA new power supply too? What wattage? Power supplies can cause some wierd problems too. skinnerjack27-07-2003, 09:15 AMThis one seems easy to me, but the Bios Checksum means you need a new CMOS battery, dont ask me why, but for seven dollars you can fix this error. If the second error occurs after a battery swap then get into BIOS and check that the first boot device is floppy the second is CDROM and the third is Hard Drive zero. PS check the cable is firmed fro the HD to the M/B Stumped Badly27-07-2003, 10:53 AMThanks guys I had already tried your suggestions before posting the problem. 1. Power supply is a new 320w & I have tried another one, same result. 2. Have already tried a new battery which reset the BIOS to default boot order. 3. Had t

PSU is known to be ok. IN BIOS CPU is recognised correctly and memory is also recognised ok. So is it likely to be a bad motherboard or corrupted BIOS or something else? Do you only boot your system by switching on the AC power to it? Does this also occur after you power down from the OS or by pressing your power button for > 4 seconds causing the system to go into "Soft Off" or ACPI S5 mode? Is the time reset each time you have invalid CMOS checksum? The reason I'm asking is because the VBAT power connection is typically powered by an on board regulator when the system is plugged in and by the battery when the system is disconnected from the AC outlet. You can measure the VBAT voltage and if it is ~3V or less then it is running off the battery, but if it
