fix it if I get a CMOS checksum error (battery replaced)?I have a asus P5B-SE motherboard and when I boot I got CMOS checksum error.First I thought that there was battery problem so asus support I installed a brand new battery but it still happen. What's the problem? How to fix it?UpdateCancelAnswer Wiki4 Answers Brock McKean, I'm a computer engineer and entrepreneur. I train people to code by habit.Written 119w agoIf it was still in warranty I would suggest contacting Asus, but I assume it is not. Contact Asus directly anyway and ask them if there is anything else you can do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxUDZKT-fCo Perhaps there's some way to flash it or do something else only Asus would know to do. They will advise you further. If you've already replaced the battery I'm sorry to say I don't think you're going to hear good news from Asus. They'll probably want you to ship it to them for repair and pay for the return shipping as well, since it's not under warranty. However, https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-fix-it-if-I-get-a-CMOS-checksum-error-battery-replaced this is not what I would suggest. I'd say go get a new motherboard, because paying to repair yours is probably going to cost enough that you might as well just buy a new P5B-SE. Of course, I don't think you'll be able to find a new one, so you'll need a different one. If you go that route, you'll probably need a new processor at least, and probably new ram, but it's about time for you to upgrade anyway. Also, don't buy Intel unless you really feel like you need it for a specific purpose. It's overpriced and not rarely provides performance gains that are notable as a generic or even power user. AMD is much more robust in its ability to upgrade and maintain system continuity in a situation like this. Their Zambezi architecture is actually really powerful in applications that utilize several cores, and overclocking AMD processors is a matter of temperature mainly. They're very sturdy and can handle a lot of OV as long as you keep the temperature down.If you really want to stick with the system you've got there, pick one up from ebay. They're really cheap and not brand n

I have three niggly little annoyances with my PC that have bugged me ever since it was bought new, bios checksum five years ago. Over the years, I have tried to fix the problems repeatedly but have never been able to do so and because they are only a minor annoyance I have always just resorted to working around the issues...until now! I think problems 2 and 3 are linked but you might tell me otherwise.... So.... PROBLEM #1 ============================== When I push bios checksum error the power button on the front of my PC to turn it on, if I do not push and hold it for a few seconds, the PC does not boot. Instead, the disk activity light comes on (and stays on) and nothing else appears to happen; nothing is displayed on screen. If I push and hold the button for a couple of seconds, then release, the computer boots fine (other than throwing up problems 2 and 3!)... PROBLEM # 2 ============================== If I manage to start the boot OK, the computer gets a little bit in, then displays the following message: Code: CMOS Checksum Bad No Floppy Drive detected! Press F1 to run SETUP Press F2 to load default values and continue I should point out that I do not have a floppy drive, so it's quite right there, but infuriatingly, no matter how many times I go into the BIOS setup screens and change the settings for boot priority etc., after a few boots the computer forgets everything I've told it and reverts to its old behaviour of looking for a
