(You should do this AFTER you flash a BIOS). And / or replace the CMOS battery. It maybe flat. Graham L06-08-2008, 04:25 PMWelcome to PressF1. Does it say something like "bios checksum error" or is it "bios ROM checksum error". What is the EXACT error message? If it's complaining about a ROM checksum error it's serious. If it's just a http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-92318.html bios checksum error it will succumb to Speedy's approach. pauliej107-08-2008, 03:05 AMbios checksum error is being displayed pauliej107-08-2008, 04:23 AMalso checked battery 3.25 volts Speedy Gonzales07-08-2008, 07:04 AMDo what I posted in post #2 pauliej108-08-2008, 09:57 AMI can't even get into the bios I tried everything my keyborad won't work mouse won't work the cd rom tray opens and closes and the power button works thats adout it I want to order a new chip but the asus site is so tied up I can get on the home page but thats about it do you guys have a web site in mind were I can order a bios chip Speedy Gonzales08-08-2008, 10:02 AMYou DONT need a new BIOS chip. Replace the battery, its on the motherboard Agent_2408-08-2008, 10:54 AMWhy replace battery? 3.25v sounds healthy to me... So what happens when you turn the PC on. Can you write down the exact message that appears on screen? or even take a photo if you can... Speedy Gonzales08-08-2008, 10:58 AMWhy not, it'll probably be cheaper, than trying to find out where or how to replace the BIOS. If the BIOS was stuffed, it would be dead as a dodo pauliej108-08-2008, 02:15 PM

Starting BIOS Recovery... I was away from my computer, and when I came back, the screen was black and it said "Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS Recovery...". Every time I reboot, I can't get passed that screen! I do have my computer on 24/7, so I kind of have a feeling the battery on the mobo finally died? (I read that could be the problem) The green LED on the motherboard is still lit, however; is that because it's being powered by the PSU? I also tried resetting the bios, but that didn't work. I didn't update the bios or mess with anything. I was just away from my computer... The motherboard doesn't get powered by the PSU? I thought the battery on the motherboard was only for backup? Before I go out and spend some money on a new battery for the mobo, is there any other possibility? EDIT: Oh great, I used my motherboard's support CD to flash to original bios and after it told me to reset the system and turned it back on, all I get is a blank screen now. Absolutely nothing. Now, all I can hope for is that the CMOS battery is dead... I ordered some new CHEAP batteries online. I hope it will get here fast... Last edited by Namie; July 14th, 2008 at 04:42 PM. I can't even get POST or beep.. I get no signal on the monitor. I have a feeling my motherboard, CPU, or PSU died... I have a feeling it's the mobo.... argh! Even if the CPU is dead, shouldn't it still post something if the mobo is working? Reply Reply With Quote July 22nd, 2008,04:18 PM #4 danco50 View Profile View Forum
