You would want to check what files xpstar.dll has dependencies on and search based on all the files. You can use a dependency tool to check the dependencies - try this one: http://www.dependencywalker.com/ and point it to xpstar.dll You may also want to try reapplying the last service pack you have installed - that will sometimes find and install the missing files, depending on what is missing. -Sue Saturday, August 11, 2007 10:17 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I have the same problem. I did follow the link and learned that the best way to address this app is to install the service pack. Hence, I downloaded the SQL server 2008 SP1 and tried to install it. In the middle of the installation (In step named "Select Features") it is giving me an error "There are no SQL instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer". Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You 0 Message Author Comment by:Skerw2010-10-06 Never mind. I just looked into the server and learned that the SQL Server 2008 is already have SP1 installed on it. I believe that is the reason the above mentioned error while installing SP1. NET HELPMSG 126 says "The specified module could not be found." That would indicate that the DLL or a file it depends on is missing. I search on Google on "XPSTAR" and 126 and found a few hits that agreed with this diagnosis. The one at http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...53428&SiteID=1 looks particularly promising. -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, es****@sommarskog.se Books Online for SQL Server 2005 at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...ads/books.mspx Books Online for SQL Server 2000 at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...ons/books.mspx Jul 20 '07 #2 This discussion thread is closed Start new discussion Replies have been disabled for this discussion.
