I've had one problem with it before, a clogged print head, but thanks to you on this forum I solved it with windows cleaner with ammonia. After that the printer worked just fine for more than two years, but recently it has started showing some errors. Once in a while I've http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/canon-ip4200-operator-error.7143/ gotten a error dialogue saying "operator error" and the yellow light on the printer blinking five times in sequences. When this error is displayed the printer refuses to print anything. However, I've been able to resolve the problem by resetting the print head and the ink cartridges. I could print as recently as yesterday. But not any more... I keep getting the error all the time and when I first insert the ink cartridges, the red light are not lit up. If I close the lid and open it again, the do lit up but the error persists. Two of my ink cartridges were empty so I bought new ones, but to no avail. Do I have to buy a new print head? I can get one on eBay at around 420 SEK (64 USD) but I can buy a brand new Pixma MG5250 for around 790 SEK (120 USD). What do you suggest? Is there any way to "repair" my iP4200 without buying an expensive print head? Thank you in advance! Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement rgrhodes Thread Starter Joined: May 19, 2016 Messages: 1 My printer was not printing at all. I have changed all 5 cartridges, and the printer still does not print. The RESUME/CANCEL button is flashing orange continuously, and when I attempt to print anything I get the following error message: "Operator Error: Press the printer's RESUME button. If this doesn't clear the error, cancel printing and turn the printer off and then on again". I followed these instructions (multiple times) with no success. From the printer's Maintenance I tried the following: i) Deep Cleaning - Black PGBK, resulted with the same error as above. ii) Deep Cleaning - All colours, same result as above. iii) Cleaning - same result as above. iv) Print Head Alignment - same result as above. v) Nozzle Check - same resuilt as above. Turned the printer off and on again, flashing orange light. Shutdown the computer and restarted it, with no improvement. Lastly noted how many orange flashes - five. So I consulted the Service Manual, Section 2-1. Operator Call Errors (by Alarm LED Blinking in Orange). 5 times; Solution suggested Install the print head properly. All the Ink Cartridges show solid red light (installed correctly). Can anyone please offer a suggestion as how to correct this problem, thank you? rgrhodes, May 19, 2016 #1 etaf Wayne Moderator Joined: Oct 2, 2003 Messages: 60,824 have a read here http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/27843 see if that helps at all etaf, May 22, 2016 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
