I use Cablevision in Long Island as my provider and use two Cablecards in the box. I keep getting a 161-1 and 160-2 error message. Per TIVO these are Cablecard error messages. The TIVO does not recongnize the card in Slot 2, slot one works fine but with only one card I can record two programs at once - one of the main reasons I bought this specific unit. Cablevision has changed the cablecard six times and the problem still happens. I thought it was the TIVO itself and returned the first one back to AMAZON; the one I have now is 4 days old and the problem still happens. These are NDS cards, not Motorola or Scientific America which are better cards. If I had one multi-stream card I was told this problem would not occur. But Cablevision, although a Long Island based company, does not offer multi-stream cards to Long Island customers at this time So - has anyone ever experienced these problems? If so, were yu able to fix the problem? If so, how? I am 99% sure I have to return this box as well and either go back to Cabevision's D

Slot one keeps giving error code 161-1, saying to call the cable company. Cable company doesn't know what error code 161-1 is. Slot two will configure normally. Swapped several cards and still no good. Do you think slot one is just defective? thanks! I'm only guessing, but since the reboot cleared the error, it might be a long time, or never, until you see another one of these. 2 Kudos Posted by gardengal444 11-21-2014 07:47 PM Frequent Visitor View All Member Since: 11-21-2014 Posts: 5 Message 2 of 2 (2,072 Views) TIVO Cable Card Error 161-1 Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Report I've had my Tivo Premiere well over a year, relatively stable. Just today I saw that error when I put the tv on. Everything I read about 161-1 seemed to confirm it meant the Cable Card was bad. But I rebooted Tivo anyhow and all is well.I'm happy, but still curious if this could be a sign of more problems to come down the road. Could it mean some firmware might have been pushed to the card?Absolutely no physical changes or movements with the Tivo box have occurred. No careless kids, pets, earthquakes, etc. :-) 0 Kudos All Forum Topics Previous Topic Next Topic Popular Help Articles Set up your remote control Use this tool to find the codes of your devices and to get specific instructions on programming the codes into your Comcast remote.
