Those 161-xx error codes are very cryptic, and I've never found anyone at Comcast who has even heard of them. I got a cablecard from my local office. But every time I try to insert it into the TiVo the TiVo pops up an error code 161-1 and tells me to call my cable provider. The comcast phone rep was not familiar with and all that he could suggest was to go get a new card from the local office, or schedule an appointment. Has anyone run into this e
Card 2 error 161-2 and comcast cablecard error 161-1 the damn machine gets caught in a total SNAFU. It won't do anything except http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Non-X1-Service/Error-161-1-from-cablecard/td-p/1459489 repeat the error. I have had Cablevision out here three times with 12 different card and none of them work. I believe my unit was faulty on the http://www.wkforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-1292.html card slot from Weaknees. Is this possible? I am so frustrated I actually am going to go back to DirecTv and use their carappy HR-20. The box is brand new. Any thoughts? WK-Michael10-26-2007, 08:00 PMThat really does sound like a bad CableCARD slot. They are few and far between, but we have seen bad CableCARD slots - email us at info@weaknees.com and we should be able to swap it out. Error Code 161-38″ intermittently since we bought our TiVo HD DVR back in May. I read the TiVo blogs on our web site and talked with John (Sr.) about it. I was wondering what other (clean & useful) solutions are out there. Details: We're using a Cox' Multi-stream cable card. The first one was defective on installation (no HD channels). This one works most of the time with these annoying problems: 1. Recordings cut off early 2. The signal is completely lost 3. This message appears: CableCard Error CableCard1 Error code 161-38 Press SELECT to continue 4. HD stations like STARZ do not show up on the guide, but we can type in the channel (e.g. 266) and get the station. Stations that aren't on the guide can't be pre-recorded. Cox doesn't know what this error code means. TiVo couldn't find it either. (BTW it's a TiVo error code.) TiVo does have some troubleshooting tips: re-seat the cable card, reboot TiVo, replace the M-Stream card with two S-Stream cards and so on. I Googled the error code (mimicking the CSR) and found pages of customer complaints against Cox. None of these recomendations has helped other customers. No one has found a robust solution, either. They do say that getting Cox to send a truck out is a waste of time. One guy said his HD TiVo worked great in Texas with another compay's cable card, but he's had nothing but trouble with the same unit using the Cox cable cards.
