digital tachograph cards issued between 24 March 2007 and 31 August 2008 are malfunctioning. When affected cards are inserted, digital tachograph units display an error 48 (driver and company cards have either expired, are not yet valid or the authentication has failed), even though the card has not reached its expiry date. What you need to do If you or your drivers have already reported the driver or company card(s) as malfunctioning to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), either by telephone or by applying for a replacement, you should receive a new card(s) soon. You do not need to take any further action If you or your drivers have not applied for a replacement driver or company card(s), you do not need to take any action. DVLA has identified the affected cards and will automatically issue a new card(s) to the address shown on their records. Replacement cards will be issued as soon as possible. The Agency will include a letter with the replacement card(s) explaining what you need to do with the old card If your or your drivers’ card(s) are due to expire, a reminder to renew will be received and this should be completed in the normal way. Drivers should continue to complete manual records until the start date of that card International ope

inundated with drivers phoning up as on the 24th of march their Digi-Tacho cards security breach on digital tachograph have been declared invalid by the tachographs in the trucks. When I phoned the DVLA, they reckoned that a software update for the digital tachograph infringement codes tacho machines fitted in new vehicles had caused the issue.Anyone else had this? 5 drivers on my shift (of 12 drivers) have had their cards refused. The tacho screen shows up CARD INVALID 48. If you http://www.fta.co.uk/policy_and_compliance/road/drivers/important_information_for_digital_tachograph_holders.html press ok, it shows that there is a card in the machine but will flash up DRIVING WITHOUT CARD as soon as you move. After 2 hours or so of driving it will spit the card back out at you and will show SECURITY BREACH 47.I have phoned the DVLA, told them the card number, been given a reference number and told to send the card off with the usual tacho renewal/application form http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1131617 but I will get a replacement card free of charge (rather than pay the £19 that they normally charge for a damaged card). Cards issued outside of these dates are not affected.A DVLA statement says: "We are urgently investigating the problem and will be contacting those drivers affected. In the meantime, drivers with a malfunctioning card can continue to drive until they are issued a replacement card. "We have agreed with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) that no action will be taken against drivers with one of these malfunctioning cards."Training company and digital tachograph maker Novadata has confirmed several drivers have reported seeing "error code 48"; "card error"; "card not valid" and "card expired" messages displayed when inserting what should be valid cards.Novadata advises drivers to check the card in another vehicle or download de

ProblemThe DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade Utility included with DeltaV 9.3 or earlier cannot install a driver with a version number greater than 1.55, due to a change in the flash files. While the 1.55 and above drivers are required for Serial Card (PSIC) hardware version 5.6 and later, this problem will affect any Series 2 PSIC when installing a v1.55, or greater, driver. Once the driver is installed on the Serial Card, it is compatible with any DeltaV system that supports a Series 2 PSIC.The DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade Utility will display the error indicated in Figure 1 below.Figure 1 - DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade Utility - Error 48 Affected Systems DeltaV 9.3 or earlier DeltaV Serial Card driver version 1.55 or greater Series 2 Serial Card hardware SolutionThere are two solutions to this problem: 1) Upgrade the card using a DeltaV 10.3 system, or 2) Download the standalone DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade Utility below. Standalone DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade UtilityThis version of the Upgrade Utility does not need to be installed; it simply needs to be copied to a DeltaV system and run. The serial card driver installation procedure is identical using this utility when compared to the previous versions. Please see the serial card driver's user manual for the installation procedure.Download the Standalone DeltaV Controller and I/O Upgrade Utility Share Subscribe Contact Subscribe below to receive our monthly e-Newsletter and product announcements.Subscribe below to receive our monthly e-Newsletter and product announcements.Subscribe below to receive our monthly e-Newsletter and product announcements.Subscribe below to receive our month
