I click "Delete Photos" on card then eject the card. What occasionally happens is i get a "No Card" error or if there is a card in Slot two is uses that card thinking slot 1 nikon d7100 card error is empty. I am troubled considering whether it is a card error, camera error (defective) or user error. Should I reformat the card in camera every time for better performance? Delete all the photos off the card in camera?Have I read the manual? I stopped reading manuals after Al Gore invented the internet.Your help or suggestions are appreciated. Nikon D7000 Firmware Update 2015
up Here's how it works: Anybody can ask a question Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top D7000 Phantom Card Error up vote 4 down vote favorite I've just signed up in the hope someone can help with https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/40264839 my issue. I must have bought a couple of dodgy SD cards once, since one of them started to break apart (inside my second SD slot). Anyway, I noticed that the card would no longer push to eject. I had to manually grab it and pull it out. After disposing of this card, I could see small pieces of plastic inside the slot near the pins. I managed to get them out (I think, never did find the debris) with long tweezers. So now the push to eject works properly. http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/72709/d7000-phantom-card-error The new problem I'm now having, and to be honest it could have been happening for years but I've never run the camera with only one card before is this: I remove the card from slot 2, and the slot doesn't recognize I've taken the card out, and keeps on throwing "card" "Err" messages if I try and take a picture without the card. Most of the time, I can put the card back in and it will carry on working. I can see that if I get 2 cards in again, it will become transparent, but I would really like to fix it. I've updated to the latest firmware with no luck, and I cannot see anything in the slot that looks like it could be tricking the camera. Is there a sensor in there that I may have damaged and this is giving the false reading? UPDATE: I have been in contact with Nikon, who had me go through all the usual troubleshooting. Anyway, still not working. They have given me an indication of parts and labour for a new SD module, and that is approx GBP 160.00. I'll have to have a think on that, especially since I have a workaround of sorts. nikon nikon-d7000 sdcard error share|improve this question edited Jan 15 at 12:55 asked Jan 11 at 23:05 Slamdog 213 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Is there a sensor in there that I may have damaged and this is giving the false reading? I'm using a Brand New D7000 with a 16 GB SanDisk Extreme (30MB/s) Memory card. They've been working beautifully together all weekend, now the camera suddenly won't recognise the card. -E- shows permanently on the display. I can't format the card with the camera, as it doesn't even acknowledge the card is present. I've tried both slots, same issue. (Only tried/own card error one card though) The computer still reads the card without issue. At the time I noticed the problem, the battery indicator still shows about 1/4 to 1/3 charge. Also, I'm not sure if it's a related issue (card seating, etc.) but several photos taken over the weekend were not saved. No corrupt file, no skipped file number, but the camera went through all the usual motions of taking a memory card error shot - Shutter went off, flash where appropriate. It could have dropped out to a Demo-mode of sorts but I didn't notice any error messages at the time, and subsequent shots (without any changes) saved fine. Any thoughts? Many thanks! Also make sure there isn't a small piece or sliver of plastic on any of the contacts on the card or in the camera, there was one on mine and the D7000 acted the same way.
