hammers? Generally speaking, the severity of the issue will dictate how promptly you must address the situation. Here's how the check engine light (CEL) can help you understand whether you should drive straight to the garage, or take your car in when you have free time in a few days: When you first start the engine, the check engine light (CEL) will illuminate for a few seconds during the system's normal self-check process. Well, the dreaded ‘service engine' or ‘check engine' light came on in our Pontiac Grand Am this past week. Even more, you dread paying $100 just to have your mechanic take a peek at your vehicle to tell you that nothing is wrong with it - but that's what you get for being a responsible auto-owner.
