Posts 30,876 CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded (Keyboard unresponsive) Hey guys, So I got bored and I whipped out my cmos checksum error defaults loaded keyboard unresponsive 8yr+ old rig(see sig). I've been trying to get it to work again but I'm running into this message which reads CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded. My keyboard, however, is not responding http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/cmos-checksum-error-defaults-loaded-keyboard-unresponsive/84711.html at all. Here is a pic to show the screen I get stuck on. Can't press F1 or DEL since my keyboard won't work. I have already tried plugging my keyboard PS/2 connector to my mouse port and although that did bring about an improvement(my keyboards caps/num lock indicator lights do blink when I power up the CPU) the keyboard is still not responding after it comes to http://forums.vr-zone.com/troubleshooting-zone-technical-enquiries/743266-cmos-checksum-error-defaults-loaded-keyboard-unresponsive.html the screen above. If I plug it into the keyboard PS/2 port then the keyboard lights don't even blink when I power up the CPU. The mobo is newer cos I replaced my busted mobo about two years back or so. Please do assist, I would really appreciate it. Intend to use this for downloading etc for as long as it lives. Thanks! [vRz] HellHunter Originally Posted by domho7 Yes u're ****ing right!! Or you can just live with it. Go to BIOS and find an option to turn off the checksum. For your keyboard, I think it is together with the checksum. A few days ago I started up my computer and then after I had been on the internet for a while it just rebooted itself. bios checksum error So I kept starting it up then when everything had loaded it just kept rebooting. Now it doesn't even load up it goes to a black screen that says something about CMOS checksum error - Defaults Loaded. I've searched for other people with this problem and the responses tend to be to do something with the BIOS (sorry, I'm not very technical. I don't even know what the BIOS are) but my problem is my keyboard has now become unresponsive that I can't get it into anywhere to change the settings. When I start up all the lights come on for a second (num lock, caps lock and scroll lock) but then go off and my keyboard becomes unresponsive. Then when I try to reboot the computer from the power button it doesn't even start up now! (It's just going from bad to worse) Like it turns on (I think it's the fan that makes a noise?) but nothing happens the screens black, it doesn't even make that beeping noise it usually does when it's just starting to start up. I have to wait for a while (like a good few hours or even

On booting the pc, I get the error message" CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults Loaded. Press F1 or Del" Unfortunately the PS2 keyboard is non-responsive and I cannot press F1 to get any further. I have tried swapping keyboards, using a USB keyboard and swapping the mouse and keyboard around but to no avail. So far I have replaced the battery on the motherboard (Abit KT7E) but this does not make a difference and also removing all other components to no avail. I know there is power to t
