Office 365 ProPlus - IT Pro General Discussions Question 4 Sign in to vote Every time I compile error vba open and close MS Word with the current version of 365 (July 2016), I get the following error message: "compile error in hidden module:link" Once launched MS https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/307410 Word functions as usual. It is annoying to see the error. Suggestions on how to fix this. I've looked through the forums and have only found Windows related solutions and those back to MS Word 2013. Thank you… Edited by Jonathan Vogel-Borne Wednesday, July 13, 2016 3:53 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 3:52 PM Reply https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f0a463ed-97a3-4f93-90fe-5071be819ce6/compile-error-in-hidden-modulelink-on-mac-365?forum=officeitpro | Quote Answers 110 Sign in to vote I HAVE THE ANSWER! Well, this worked for me, anyway. Since I updated to Word version 15.24 recently, when I either start up or quit Word, I get the error describe: "compiler error in hidden module: link". The reply given above by Steve Fan is what led me to find the solution, but didn't work in itself. The path describe above simply doesn't lead to the described content. However, having previously found (with great difficulty) Outlook's new location for storing its email database, I had a clue where to start looking. So basically, the path that Steve Fan should have quoted is as follows: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word/ I.e. start tunnelling down from your home folder (~), not the root of the startup disk. Inside the above Word folder I found a new file (dated 30 Jun 16) called "linkCreation.dotm". Promising, I thought, given the 'link' reference in the name and in the error messa

Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and compile error getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through compile error in his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,So ,being a developer i understood , that the solution then lies in enhancing the XML capacity of the OS and so my search on google for XML enhancing patches for Opreating system XP with service pack 2 started ,Of the various
