in query expression' Please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find the thread that covers it: I have a fairly simple db that has been working access compile error expected user-defined type not project perfectly for the last 7-8 months, but now I'm getting variations of the following error messages for all but one of my queries: Compile error. in query expression '(Format([VisitorInfo.Interview], "dddd"))+" at "+(Format([VisitorInfo.Interview], "h:nn am/pm"))+" - "+([VisitorInfo.Interviewer])'. And: Compile error. in query expression '(DatePart("ww", [VisitorInfo].[TutorInt]))=(DatePart("ww", Now())+1)'. There were no changes made to any of the queries, or any code. The only change was the installation of new db software, access compile error label not defined which I have heard it suggested can sometimes cause reference problems. There are no missing references listed, however, and simply unchecking and rechecking available references did not seem to help, so my minimal knowledge of how to deal with possible reference problems is exhausted. I am trying to alter the formatting of a date formatted cell compile error to change the way it is displayed. However, everytime i invoke Format to do that i get the error: "Compile Error: Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment." here is the code: Sub test() Dim given given = DateSerial(2012, 10, 11) dateformat = Format(given, "dd/mm/yy") MsgBox given & vbCrLf & dateformat End Sub This is just a test function and should function on its own and return "11/10/12". This code works on other computers. Resolved it by changing Format to VBA.Format So try: Sub test() Dim given given = DateSerial(2012, 10, 11) dateformat = VBA.Format(given, "dd/mm/yy") MsgBox given & vbCrLf & dateformat End Sub share|improve this answer answered Nov 20 '15 at 13:57 Matthew Whitwam 111 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Currently you are declaring your given variable as a variant by default. Please declare it as Date data type. And to be safe, make sure you only send a Date using CDate() into the Format() to format as the date style you want. Also DateSerial input should be in the following format. Which in your case alright. ;) DateSerial(CInt(x), CInt(y), CInt(z) Code snippet: OPTION EXPLICIT '------------ please add this to your code to begin for better coding Sub test() Dim given as Date '-------- define given as Date type Dim dateformat as Date given = DateSerial(2012, 10, 11) dateformat = Format(CDate(given), "dd/mm/yy") '--------- anyway wrap with CDate() to be sure MsgBox given & vbCrLf & dateformat End Sub share|improve this answer edited Nov 30 '12 at 8:07 answered Nov 30 '12 at 6:00 bonCodigo 10.6k1956 option explicit is always in there i just dont
